It was the night the ‘Baby faced assassin’ became a stone cold killer.” Roy Foreman I am often asked who my favorite boxer is. It comes as a surprise to some people that my answer is not Muhammad Ali, Sugar ray Leanard/Robsinson, Durran or any of the other well known legends of the sport. The answer I give , is Marco Antonio Barrera ( I usually just say Barrera). If I ever fancied a night in, with a few beers watching boxing on the plasma, I would rather watch a string of Barrera fights than any other fighter Why? Back in 2001, I was a 21 year old boxing fan and amateur boxer-boxing for my university.* A group of guys from the gym got together* on April 7th 2001 to watch Naseem Hamed* KO some Mexican bloke called Barrera. Clearly my boxing knowledge back then was some-what lacking, but that was about to change. Hamed was a 14-5 on betting favorite, the overwhelming pick of* the boxing writers.
