Boxing Articles Posted January 21, 2013 Share Posted January 21, 2013 Jamie McDonnell (16W,2L,1D) faced Stephane Jamoye (19W,1L,0D) in defence of the EBU bantamweight title, at ‘The Dome’ in Doncaster. The challenger was a third choice replacement. Jamoye is a 21 year old Belgian and has been tipped to cause a possible upset by some boxing writers. Pre-fight the 21 year old looked very relaxed and confident. The Doncaster crowd were showing their support for the local EBU champ, creating an intimidating atmosphere for the young challenger. McDonnell entered the ring with ‘Mr Brightside’ pumping out of the PA system, only just louder than the crowd themselves. McDonnell looked in serious mood in contrast to the relaxed confident demeanor of Jamoye. Round 1. Fast start from Jamoye, applying some early pressure. First blood to Jamoye as he lands a clean jab to the head. McDonnell struggling to settle with the fast pace that’s being dictated by Jamoye . Jamoye lands a few decent shots to the body. McDonnell has a bit of adjusting to do. Round 2. Similar start to the first, pressure coming from Jamoye. McDonnell just about coping with the pressure of Jamoye; looking a bit disorganized at times.
