A packed out arena, the chants of “there’s only one Ricky Hatton”, Michael Buffer announcing the former 2 weight, 2 times weight World Champion to the ring and an electric atmosphere. Could Hatton be the one to prove the history books wrong and be an exception to the rule that comebacks in boxing rarely end in success? To be fair it was a huge task for Hatton to roll back the years, shake off the ring rust and to try and recreate his best days against an opponent like Senchenko, (32-1 (21KOs) who had only lost once. In many ways Senchenko looked like an opponent made for Hatton, tall, a large body area to target, and although undoubtly tough, rather predictable. Having said that Senchenko was no walk over, a former World Champion himself he does most things well and Hatton could have been forgiven for going for an easier opponent to ease his way back into the World mix before this fight.
