WelshDevilRob
Green annihilates Jones Jr. Roy is vanquished in 122 seconds By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green (28-3, 25 KOs) scored a major upset when he stopped boxing legend Roy Jones Jr (54-6, 40 KOs) in round one moments ago at the Acer Arena, Homebush, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Green was the aggressor from the opening bell and connected with two solid left hands and a right cross to the temple that dropped Jones. The referee Howard Foster crowned Green at 2:02 to save Jones from further punishment when he was in no condition to defend himself. Green thanked his boxing team for helping him to achieve his greatest ring victory. Jones congratulated Green on his victory. Green’s devastating win likely torpedoed Jones’ planned rematch with Bernard Hopkins, who fights Enrique Ornelas tonight in Philadelphia. Maybe the door is now open for Green to face Hopkins. WelshDevilRob
Green just confirmed again that Roy Jones Jnr's punch resistance has gone. Surely, Roy will retire after that. I'm glad in a way as it means Bhop won't get a W over Roy on his record.
ironjab
gutted to see rjj go out like that, but he hung around to long and i agree with rob, fcuk bhop and his celebrity boxing matches, why doesnt he fight green, perhaps he will get his head knocked off
grapevine241
i knew jones would lose because i knew there was no way that jones-hopkins II was ever going to really happen.
Brick Top
Ahhhh gutted for Roy, his reflexes were so good in his prime he neglected the basics imo, now that his reflexes are gone he's not got the basics to fall back on. I must admit, I started to believe a bit again after the Lacy fight, oh well.....
Faulks
Finaly people cant ignore the fact he's shot to bits. Ive been saying for ages he's gone and ive had many an argument over it. Well no Hopkins fight March in Vegas now.. Unless they put it on a PBF/PAC card.. Now that would be a great event.
Andre00
I hope now people understand that "taking beating when your young is not cool" like Floyd mention a few times, yes the fans love it, yes people might call you Warrior or w/e but on the long run, this happens to you !! a Legend like "Jones" looked like a wasted old man. Correct me if i`m wrong !! but that punch didn`t land 100% right ?
The_budweiser
just watched this , jones was caught cold . nice to see the auzzie fans give roy a great reception before and after the fight, looked as if they really did appreciate jones fighting in Australia andre the fight angle dosnt look 100% contact but the replay angle they show u after the fight makes the punch look as if it landed spot on
McBride
I hope now people understand that "taking beating when your young is not cool" like Floyd mention a few times, yes the fans love it, yes people might call you Warrior or w/e but on the long run, this happens to you !! a Legend like "Jones" looked like a wasted old man. Correct me if i`m wrong !! but that punch didn`t land 100% right ? That is the whole point about Jones though Andre, he didn't take beatings when he was young. He rarely got hit in fact. His troubles started when he came back down to Light Heavy after the Ruiz fight, and he was unable to move out the way of Tarvers punches. Big round of applause to the brilliant Aussie fans for the way they behaved when the American anthem was played. I only wish some our f***ing mob would be as well behaved. Faulks
To be fair Mcbride from all the fights ive been abroad it was only the PBF/Hatton fight there was booing... I put that down to the fact the majority of 'fans' there werent real Boxing fans
McBride
I agree with you there Ian about overseas, unfortunately mate some even do it in Britain. Just a nice change to see the Aussies so respectful to the fighter, and his country.

gemmell100
roy should hae retired after the tarver fight. sad to see such a legend getting whooped
McBride
I still cant work out how it all went so terribly wrong for Jones in such a short period of time. I mean in the Ruiz fight he only weighed just over 190, and even allowing for the fact that Ruiz is slower than the Queen Mary, jones was jumping about in that fight. Yet 8 months later he was back in the ring with Tarver at 175 and it was like he had concrete boots on. he just couldn't move.
