gavpowell
Martinez and I don;t even expect it to be difficult. I just don't see how Chavez can beat him.

Meathead
I've long said that Martinez, whilst good, isn't the fighter that some make him out to be. Pound of pounder sure, but he's got this myth of invulnerability around him which is wholly inaccurate. That said the gulf in levels between these two is extremely wide. I'll say, if Chavez pulls off the win, for me at least, that would be one of the all time biggest upsets that I have seen. Looking good against Peter Manfredo Jr. isnt good enough to beat a season world class fighter like Martinez. Martinez has just got too much for him. Earlyish KO win for Martinez. brooklynbrawler
Personally, I've noticed that Martinez is on the slide in recent fights, so it's difficult to know whether he's going to be further gone come fight night with Chavez Jr. That's the only thing closing the gap for me, in what should be a one-sided contest. I suspect it will be much closer than most people are giving credit for. Martinez was never a big puncher, but seems to be a bit of a monster at 160 lbs. I am one of the few who think Chavez is massively underrated also, but he is not near the level of Martinez, who is the stand out fighter at 160 lbs imo. irondave85
I expect a highly competitive fight, but feel Sergio's athleticism and higher skill level will be the key difference. Martinez on points.
mr.blonde
Im going with a late KO win for martinez.. Martinez showed in his last fights that he can handle physically bigger opponents.. I think the more weight junior brings on fight night, the better chances will have martinez to succeed, especially in the later rounds.. I Think Chavez` best chance is to kind of "BLITZ" martinez early and make the fight physical and rough.. I hope for ahighly competitive fight until the end and a possible FOTY candidate.. WAR MARAVILLA!!!!

Sergio Gabriel Martinez - 49(28)-2(1)-2 vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr- 46(32)-0-1 Is Chavez the real deal or in too deep? Is Martinez just another Level up from Chavez or is 'Maravilla' fading? ----- Interesting how close the kid is to the grizzled vet in number of fights and wins. Junior will be the strongest fighter Martinez has ever faced with due respect to the towering Williams who was about 15lbs less on fight night to Junior's 180+. That will play an early factor in Junior being game while bulling Martinez around. I'd figure on an early test all the circuits from Martinez before he launches his first chincracker, an early KO would be perfect. Absent that, figure on Martinez to settle in on the long haul and run Chavez ragged while countering sweet spots as they open. Dunno if the kid can be KOed, but it's gonna be a whole 'nother world of hurt for him and he deserves kudos for insisting on this fight when he could've delayed forever and a day. Still, he has a chance if Martinez can't get the old bones up and running properly on the night. Look for the lamentable Ward to challenge Martinez to take his 168bl title bling at the Oracle in Oakland.
Skav
I'm going with Chavez to shock most and get the win. He's not stupid, he probably knows that he has a lot to prove to the fans and he'll have something up his sleeve to get it. I'm not going to mention anything about PED's and make any predictions about skipping urine tests after the fight........oh, hang on.
Tonezzz
Chavez Jr. by viscous knock out in the first round 2:20. Do not scoff at my prediction I am deeply convinced this will be the ultimate conclusion. Remember Chavez Jr. skips out on drug testing denying urine samples, so the rumor is. He ain't down with VADA, Julio Cesar Chavez Juicer. But seriously though this could be a tough fight for both, but methinks Martinez overall has faced and devastated the better competition, more like an irrefutable fact. If Chavez Jr. did in fact inherit the heart and chin of his father it could be a banger of a fight.

Meathead
This might actually be called off! Jose Sulaiman has threatened to withdraw the WBC belt because they weren't consulted on the judges by the WBC. It's being seen as unlikely, but Jose is extremely pissed apparently. You can see the controversial decision now! I am starting to get the feeling Martinez will have to KO Chavez twice to get a points decision. gavpowell
Oh dear, you mean they haven't been able to pre-approve some pro-Chavez judges?

super_hoops1967
I can't see Chavez taking this one unless it goes 12 and there's some ridiculous judges. Martinez late stoppage for me.
gavpowell
I think they should taker himk up on his threat and say they'll do it as a non-title fight. That'd fuck him up.
