Hopefuls to show of their skills at Stechert Arena

 

 

Two titles are at stake when world-class boxing returns later this month to the city of Bamberg, Germany. IBF cruiserweight champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez (26-1, 13 KOs) has set his sights on defending his crown against mandatory challenger Troy Ross (25-2, 16 KOs). In addition, middleweight Dominik Britsch (26-0-1, 9 KOs) is trying to erase any doubts in people's minds when he once again faces off with rugged Spaniard Roberto Santos (17-6-2, 9 KOs) for the EU Championship. Their first encounter ended in a draw. Besides those two great match-ups, Sauerland Event has an undercard stacked with quality fights to heat up the crowd before the main event. The card includes heavyweight Edmund Gerber as well as Austria's finest, middleweight Marcos Nader.

 

When it comes to Gerber (20-0, 13 KOs) "Hall-of-Famer" Wilfried Sauerland makes no secret about his opinion of the boxers abilities. On numerous occasions Sauerland stated, that Gerber is the greatest heavyweight talent to come out of Germany. The 24-year-old recently beat well-respected heavyweights in Ukrainian Oleksy Mazikin and American Maurice Harris. In Bamberg he will lock horns with veteran Michael Sprott (36-18, 17 KOs), who is no stranger when it comes to fighting top opponents in the heavyweight division. The former British and Commonwealth champion will be another step up in class for the prodigy of coach Karsten Roewer. "Michael Sprott is an experienced boxer who faced some decent opposition in his career. This is not going to be an easy fight for me, but his style matches up well with mine so the fans are in for some fireworks," said Gerber.

 

In Marcos Nader (15-0, 2 KOs), another talented prizefighter out of Team Sauerland will lace up his gloves. If he should win his bout against Frenchman Damien Bertu (25-6-1, 7 KOs), the man from Austria will get his first shot at a title in the professional ranks. However, beating Bertu will not be an easy task to accomplish for the technically gifted 22-year-old.
