Did Lennox Lewis avoid Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe?

Edited for clarity. I actually did watch your videos - I usually don't but this time you piqued my interest!

Except for LRR, everyone is pro-Lewis except me, I think, and LRR only does it because he likes to be on the wrong end of seesaws, while I only do it because I despise Lennox Lewis and wish he'd fuck off altogether.

Difficult to argue you were the one doing the avoiding when the other guys paid you money to stay away and actually threw the belt away rather than take the fight, but that's the Internet for you - mentalists of the world unite! But not too close, or "THEY" will get suspicious and take us out!

That was a Fantastic video. grin//

Completely agree about it being Lennox, who was avoided. It was him chasing these guys in court to get the fights to happen.

The title of the video is fine - will probably draw in a Tyson fans, who will spit out their Kool-Aid watching the video. mlol/

I was very critical of Tysons reign back, in my days posting on the BBC forums, but have mellowed towards his career and do rate the wins over people like Pinklon Thomas and Tony Tubbs.

Riddick Bowe is probably the fighter that I like least in the history of the Sport. Chicken Bowe.

The period of the two fights (Holyfield vs Bowe and Lewis vs Ruddock) I am pretty sure that Ruddock kindly (got paid to) stepped aside to let Bowe have a shot while agreeing to take on Lewis. Most people thought Lewis was mad for fighting Ruddock.

Bowe defended against Dokes, who had been brutalised by Ruddock. Bowe should have had the balls to face Lewis not a has been like Dokes.

The only good thing Bowe ever did was give us the comedy classic fight with Herbie Hide.

Cough, cough....

Really? I knew I liked you!

Ha ha.

It's not that I'm "anti-Lewis" but the eulogising of the man since his retirement is entirely off-putting and, quite frankly, bugs me. You simply can't have a sensible conversation about the man's career without posters (some of whom are usually very sensible, not all of them are nutters) jumping down your throat for having the "nerve" to say anything in the least bit negative about "our Lennie."

You make good points, the two careers were always on a different timeframe. As for the Step Aside agreement when they finally got on the same level, the original deal that Don King gave Lennox for the step aside was $4 Million and THE NEXT AVAILABLE shot. Step aside money is great for the Fighter because LL pockets the whole amount other than his managers cut, there's no Sanctioning fee, no Training expenses, in fact his Trainer doesn't even get his 10% because there's no Camp. King/Tyson reneged on giving him a shot but that wasn't part of the deal LL signed. There was never a point where Lewis ducked Tyson, just the opposite.

As for Bowe, I think Riddick wanted the fight, but Rock Newman never did, nor would he have ever let Bowe in the Ring with LL. I think that over time this eventually turned into a Prima Facia case on who was ducking who, especially once LL had reversed the McCall result, which was always the first thing Newman would bring up when he was dancing around the fight. In the end, Rock didn't have a leg to stand on.
