The_budweiser
DAVID HAYE moved a step closer to a £10m fight with Vitali Klitschko last night after secret peace talks with the WBC. The organisation vowed to outlaw Haye, 31, after a wild Munich press conference brawl in February with Dereck Chisora, who had just lost on points to WBC champion Klitschko. WBC bosses threatened more action after he beat Chisora at Upton Park in July in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation. That appeared to bar Haye from fighting Klitschko, but he held talks with the WBC in London last week – and could fight Klitschko in February. A WBC spokesman said: “David Haye is welcome to return to the WBC. WBC president Jose Sulaiman spoke with David, who wants to return to fight for our organisation.” Klitschko, 41, defends his title against Syria’s Manuel Charr in Moscow on Saturday and has threatened to retire afterwards. But the prospect of a retirement nest egg would tempt the Ukrainian to fight Haye – even though he can’t stand the Londoner. Meanwhile, unbeaten Welshman Nathan Cleverly will make the fourth defence of his WBO light-heavyweight title against Ukraine’s Vyacheslav Uzelkov in Cardiff on October 27. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/inthering/view/270567/David-Haye-10m-payday/
Sheils
Now that Haye has gone back on his word that he was retired for good the money is too good for this fight not to happen. All parties, including the WBC, stand to gain from this happening.
