With 5 separate world title fights all taking place on September 1st, the question is which one means the most? (Not which are you most looking forward to watching)

Osaka, Japan

Tepparith Kokietgym (20-2, 13) v Nobuo Nashiro (18-4-1, 12)

WBA Super Flyweight title bout

Ring's #2 and Boxrec's #1 ranked guy at 115 faces Ring's #7 and Boxrec's #34 as Thai youngster Tepparith makes the 3rd defense of his world title against former 2-time champion Nashiro

Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

Felix Sturm (37-2-2, 16) v Daniel Geale (27-1, 15)

"Super" WBA and IBF Middleweight title Unification bout

Ring's #1 ranked and Boxrec's #3 ranked fighter faces Ring's #2 ranked and Boxrec's #4 ranked Middleweight in a title unification that could help set a clear #2 at Middleweight.

New York, United States

Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20) v Gregorz Proksa (28-1, 21)

WBA Middleweight title bout

Ring's #8 and Boxrec's #6 faces Ring's #9 and Boxrec's #12 in the the biggest test of either mans career. On HBO this is a showcase for both men with the winner almost certain to get major recognition

Sinaloa, Mexico

Nkosinathi Joyi (22-0-0-1, 15) v Mario Rodriguez (14-6-4, 10)

IBF Minimumweight title bout

Ring's #2 and Boxrec's #1 faces Boxrec's #5 (Rodriguez is unranked by Ring magazine) in an IBF Minimumweight title bout that see the ultra talented Joyi fighting outside of South Africa for the first time in 24 fights.

Panama City, Panama

Moruti Mthalane (28-2, 19) v Ricardo Nunez (24-2, 20)

IBF Flyweight title bout

Ring's #4 and Boxrec's #5 faces Boxrec's #13 (unranked by Ring Magazine) in an IBF Flyweight title fight. This bout will be Mthalane's 4th straight defence of the title and his second successive bout away from home.

For clarification purposes they've been listed in approximate starting time order, hence Asia, Europe, America (though Sinaloa and Panama City may be the wrong way around...) and Ring and Boxrec rankings have again been included for clarification purposes more than anything.

None of the bouts really set the world alight, but out of the, Sturm vs Geale, being a unification bout and what should be a relatively competitive bout, makes it probably most meaningful.

Other bouts may be more interesting to watch, but this one is almost definitely the most meaningful out of those listed...

So far only 5 votes? Damnit!

Time to attempt to play devil's advocate-

So a unification fight between supposedly poor champions is better than Golovkin getting US TV time? And Joyi to get his first major exposure in the America's after being one of the premier little men?

Yes, because he's fighting Proksa, who was quite easily beaten by Kerry Hope in the first bout only a few months ago....your question didn't say the better bout anyway - it said meaningful! :)

I'm looking forward to the bout right enough, as I'm a big fan of Golovkin's, but I don't think Proksa's up to much, and can see an early night's work for him tbh.
