SIMPSON MAKES FIRST DEFENCE ON BURNS v MITCHELL CARD

 

 

All-action John Simpson will make the first defence of his Celtic Super-Featherweight title on the big Ricky Burns-Kevin Mitchell world title card at Glasgow’s SECC on Saturday 22nd September.

 

 

Simpson, a former Commonwealth and three-time British Champion, beat previous conqueror Paul Appleby in a thrilling contest in June to win the title with a stunning sixth round stoppage.

 

And he’s looking to put on another impressive showing against the Welshman Dai Davies on the massive fight night.

 

 

“This is an important fight for me and a win could lead towards a British title shot again or a potential European title,” said Simpson.

 

“It was a big lift to win the Celtic title against Appleby and in the manner I did it in which made a big statement that I’m back in the mix,”
