Ton
I have watched hardly any of the boxing coverage at these Olympics as I got caught up in other events, and had heard a lot of dodgy decisions had been occuring. However it is always interesting to see how some of the Olympians do in future, if they turn pro etc. So out of the lot you have seen, both British and non-British do you all have high hopes for, or are looking forward to watching? And out of the Brit's, who do you think could go the furthest? And also, whilst we're on the theme, who out of the last Olympics has lived upto expectation, hasn't done as much as you'd thought etc? Interesting discussions to be had.... GO!
iamasadlittleboy
Lomachenko, Murata (if he turns pro) and Shin (who was very, very disappointing in the games) will still be my pick if I had 3. Dychko looks like he could go a long way, ditto Usyk, Berinchyk, the 2 Brazilian brothers, Khytrov, the American who had his loss over-turned.... The last to live upto expectation...Gamboa? Rigondeaux?
Meathead
On the UK guys it depends on what they do. Stalker is a better boxer than his performance, and hes running out of time to turn pro, but I think hes got a decent pro career ahead of him should he flip. Evans looked terrified today which cost him a gold but there is clearly something there. Luke Campbell shocked everyone with going so far and getting a win but he showed great maturity and that he can box to a plan which would hold him in good stead. Andrew Selby could well be a bit of a darkhorse as a pro, like his brother. I think Ogogo may be the one to watch though. Something about him just makes me think that a good trainer and commitment, something that he has supposedly lacked in the past, could lead to him going further than anyone else. Joshua could well win a world title in the post K2 vacuum, but hes got some stuff to work on. He does look more suited to the pros than the amas though. I actually fear for Lomachenko. Hes clearly a gifted boxer but I dont think this AIBA pro thing is a good idea. From what I have read and heard they are pro boxers but they have to compete in a set number of amateur competitions a year. Considering how different the pro game is to ama that could be a real hinderance.

davemurphy
The entire USA Olympic Boxing Team could be towed out of Sea on a raft and left there for eternity and I doubt the pro game would experience any loss, but bet your last dollar that we'll now be inundated with a whole pile of B.S. accompanying their Pro Debuts. The idea of listening to all the hype about these underacheivers/mediocrities isn't something I look forward to. I thought Joesph Diaz looked decent, at least the best of the lot IMO, and was most disappointed by the HW, Michael Hunter Jr., who appears to me to be hardpressed to even be the journeyman that his old man was............but you can beat that whoever he turns pro with will be selling him as the next great heavyweight champ, so that should be good for some laughs lol//

davemurphy
I like the Verdejo kid from Puerto Rico. I agree, I thought he and the Ramirez kid from Cuba might end up making the biggest splash when we look back on these games in say seven or eight years. Not on topic at all I know, but I play by my own rules buncey// I am reliably informed that it;s not Hairy Pooter but in fact Boris, the computer wiz from Goldeneye. I didn't put it there, Wheels did, so there's no way I'm touching it!

gavpowell
I hate GoldenEye, and most of the Brosnan films. The Daniel Craig ones have been brilliant thus far.
