“Sugar” Shane Mosley discussed Retirement, Mosley Jr., the Olympic, “Sugar Shane Promotions”, and more

Last night on ATG Radio the ATG Team had the chance to sit down with future Hall of Famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley. We spoke to Shane about several topics such as retirement, Sugar Shane Promotions, the Olympics, fighting De La Hoya, never fighting Trinidad, women’s boxing and much more. Here are some of the highlights from the interview:

On how his retirement is going:

“Pretty good! I am training my son. I have a promotional company that just started “Sugar Shane Promotions”. Retirement is good. I can do different things without having to worry about waking up early to do my daily run or whatever. I can stay up later and it’s a good thing.”

On rumors about his Shane Mosley Jr. turning pro soon:

It was a different kind of Sugar Shane that Tim and the Boys talked to on Weds night. He's accepted that Father Time has played his part and there's no getting back in the Ring, so we can begin to forgive him for the non-effort with Manny and look back on what was a bang-up, Hall of Fame career. I wish him nothing but the best, but we won't have to look far for Shane Mosley, he'll have a hand in the game for as long as he's around.

It was nice to hear him talk about his son, Future champ in the making possibly.

Yeah, that was nice, Bud. I've heard mixed reports on young Mosley, he got a lot of high marks from some people who's opinion I respect, but at the same time he often fell short when it came to the major amateur competitions. He'll obviously have every break when it comes to making his pro career work, we'll see if he can do better than some of the offspring that have failed recently (McGirt, Hearns, etc.). For my money, Eubanks kid looks to be the best of the bunch.

Eubank Jr better than Chavez Jr and Vazquez Jr?...

Good point, I was thinking more in terms of the less established and "on their way up" guys, I forgot about those two having won world titles. Mosley and Eubank have a long way to go to be considered in their class.

Seen much of Carlos Zarate Jr? He's taking a "step up" this weekend but has feasted on cans so far.

Holy Crap, one of my favorite fighters of all-time and I didn't even know he had a son that was fighting. No, I haven't seen anything of him, but to say I'm intrigued would be putting it mildly, any info would be greatly appreciated.
