Meathead
Bit of a joke, but not entirely unexpected. The title should have been vacated. Who fights for it after that is up to the IBF, but upholding a win for a person who was cheating just leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Yeah, I don't consider this a World title fight even though it's designated as such, I'd respect them more if they just vacated, but we know that's not going to happen when they can still get their 3% from Peterson and Judah thumbd//

davemurphy
...anyone remember the Guerrero/Salido affair?... Scott- I remember Salido schooling Guerrero, it was on the Mayweather-Baldomir undercard, but I'm afraid it's been long enough that I don't recall the details well enough to catch the connection to this Peterson situation, can you explain for me please? Thanks.

Thanks. Salido tested positive for something then did his own test through a 3rd party that found he was clean. The IBF stripped him and allowed Guerrero to fight for his old title. Just interesting the IBF stripped him and allowed Guerrero to fight for it, despite the fact that Salido's "positive" test was almost certainly a false positive. Thanks, Scott, I'd forgot all about that, but it makes sense since Guererro would've been a fan favorite and obviously Salido a guy they didn't care about having as their Champion. We often complain about the WBC favoring Mexican fighters, but there's been quite a few examples over the years where the IBF did the same for American fighters. One I recall was when William Guthrie was given the IBF LH title because they wanted Michalcewski to do something ridiculous like defend within 60 days after he'd already just fought defending his other belt.
