WelshDevilRob
Oosthuizen snubs Froch chance Carl Frochwill not be fighting Tommy Oosthuizen in November, with the IBO super-middleweight champion rejecting the chance to take on the Brit. Oosthuizen had been put forward as a likely opponent for Froch, with reports suggesting talks were advanced with regard to a fight in November. However, Oosthuizen will look to extend his unbeaten run to 21 fights on US soil - with his management team feeling the South African is better served upping his profile in America. "We've turned down that fight," Oosthuizen's manager Brian Mitchell told Sowetanlive.co.za with regard to a clash with Froch. "It is proper that Lou DiBella will feature him on Shobox. The American boxing public just loves Tommy." Froch's camp will now turn their attentions elsewhere as they seek to find a suitable opponent following the impressive win over Lucian Bute. davemurphy
Thanks to winning a contest on the Billy C Radio Show last week, I got to view Oosthuizen's fight last Thursday via Online PPV. He's not NEARLY ready for Carl Froch and I think they're trying to put the best face on it. Saying their opting out of a World Title opportunity with one of the sports biggest stars so that they can explore Shobox opportunities is pretty much telling you all you need to know grin//
Meathead
Mixed about this. He may not be ready, as Dave says, but sometimes its better to go out on your shield as a game opponent as it is to just out and out avoid the fight. Given that he was the one that was linking himself to Froch he now just looks stupid for avoiding it.

Yeah, if he was just in line for Froch and turned it down then it would be one thing, but to openly lobby for it and then turn your back on it, it's hard to take him seriously. Jayme718
I cant really see Froch wanting the fight either i mean only hardened fans know who he is. Besides froch doesnt do easy fights and from what i hear this would likely have been one. Id like to see Froch fight Pavlik while hes waiting for the Kessler, Bute rematches next year. WelshDevilRob
I think Kelly Pavlik is the better fight for Froch as Kelly brings a higher profile and is better known to fans in the UK and US.
Jayme718
I think it would be somewhat of a war too because they can both give and take a good shot. I think Froch would take it though with Pavlik getting stopped late on cuts. I think If Martinez can bust him up as much as he did, Froch likely would too because that was Sergio's first fight at 160 and hadnt really settled into the weight at that point. And yeah like you say, Bigger profile fight, just dont think hes keen on fighting Froch over here so probably wont happen yet :(
Meathead
I think Frochs team looked at it because it was a winnable fight with a world title attached. Granted you have to pay for the privilege of being a champion with sanctioning fees, but having a belt of any description will help Matchroom squeeze that little bit more out of Sky. Whilst I can see him opposite Pavlik come November, Pavlik is nothing but a name (and a name that more people probably know these days for his antics out of the ring rather than in it). I may have this completely wrong but I can really see Froch steam rolling him and getting him out quite early.
Jayme718
Id like to think so, but I dont think Pavlik will be as easy as Bute. Then again I think we all know Pavlik has likely seen his best days so you could be right.
