The_budweiser
The following is my report on ESPN 2's Friday Night Fights card at the Texas Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was promoted by Top Rank: Gabino Saenz vs. Dwayne Wisdom – 6 Rounds Super Bantamweight Gabino Saenz (7-0-1) didn’t have a walk over opponent on his hands on the opening bout of the televised portion of the card. Gabino was in control for the most part but his rugged and game opponent Dwayne Wisdon (2-5). The judges scored the fight 57-57 & 59-55 x 2 in favor of the winner via Majority Decision Gabino Saenz. To hear from Gabino himself tune into ATG Radio’s “Prospect Explosion” right here on RingNews24.com! The_budweiser
Magdaleno and Gesta Prove Their The "Real Deal" Tonight we will get a good look at 2 of the best young prospects in the world of boxing. Mercito Gesta is said to have all the tools to fight for a world championship very soon. And Jesse Magdaleno who is tearing up the super bantamweight division. The crowd is hyped up for this card, and this writer is stoked to see these 2 youngsters! James Burns 1 (KO 1) -1 -0 vs. Jesus Gutiessez 4 (KO 2) -0 -0 -1 NC 4 rounds in the lightweight division. Both fighters have made their way to the ring and wait of the opening bell to open tonight’s card. We have the bell and both boxers come out very cautious and feeling each other out. Gutiessez is starting to come forward but Burns remains comfortable. Through rounds 2 and 3 it’s been a slow pace bout so far. Either boxer has been able to put anything together; Gutiessez has been able to start connecting with the right hand. Burns has been able to sneak in a few counters but nothing to bother Jesus Gutiessez. And that right over hand of Gutiessez is starting to become more powerful and more frequent. Were into the 4th and final round and Jesus Gutiessez has had to chase down James Burns who is in a defensive shell as he did not want to get caught by that hard right hand of Gutiessez. And there’s the final bell and the outcome will be left to the judges. The score cards are in, and no surprise tonight Jesus Gutiessez has his hand raised declared the winner by Unanimous Decision after 4 rounds of boxing. Gutiessez improves to 5 (KO 2) -0 -0 -1 NC and deservedly James Burns drops to 1 (KO 1) -2 -0. You got to feel for Jesus Gutiessez tonight he brought his A game tonight but ended up facing an opponent who would not engage and you can’t even say Burns fought defensive he didn’t appear to even want to box tonight. Because of the lack of action in the bout it only earns 1 ½ stars out of 5.
