WelshDevilRob
Austin Trout Comments on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Josesito Lopez Written by Richard Allan McRae As I begin this column I want it to be clear that no one has a hate on for Saul Alvarez! In fact I first saw Canelo box on May 1st 2010 when he beat Jose Miguel Cotto in the 9th round by TKO. I started raving to friends about this red head Mexican boxer who was going to big the next big thing. I was right and Canelo has racked up a 40 (KO 29) -0 -1 record to date, and along the way he became the WBC light middleweight champion by beating Matthew Hatton in a convincing Unanimous Decision over 12 rounds on March 5th 2011. He’s defended his title 4 times, three times in 2011 and once in 2012. Josesito Lopez will be his 5th title defense but many in the boxing community are asking why Lopez? Josesito Lopez is the current holder of the WBC Silver welterweight title and the 7th ranked welterweight in the world. Did someone not realize Josesito Lopez is a welterweight and in 35 professional bouts - he has never fought in the light middleweight division? Why, is he not taking on the WBC Silver light middleweight title holder Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan who has a perfect record of 32 -0 -0 with 20 knockouts? There are 4 boxers in the top 10 world rankings in the light middleweight division: 1. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 2. Saul Alvarez 5. Austin Trout 9. Vanes Martirosyan The 3 listed that should be boxing against the #2 ranked Saul Alvarez is the fifth ranked and reigning WBA light middleweight title holder boxer Austin “No Doubt” Trout. I caught up with Austin Trout today and asked him a few questions regarding Alvarez vs. Lopez on September 15th. Ringnews24.com: Your thoughts on Canelo vs. Lopez? Austin Trout’s reply: “I am happy for Jose to get his shot; I hope he does a great job. I pray no one is hurt in the fight. Although I’m still looking forward to see Canelo go up against someone in OUR weight class.” Ringnews24.com: Your prediction of the fight between Alvarez vs. Lopez? gavpowell
Fair comment - it's about time Canelo stopped pussyfooting around taking soft options(althoughin fairness, Williams was a decent fight)
The_budweiser
Theres plenty of big fights out there for Trout. Future clashes with K9, Cotto, Alvarez and Mayweather are in his sights but how well do you think he would do against those four fighters? If Trout can get a fight with Cotto and defeat him, that might be enough to by pass Alvarez and K9 to go straight to a money spinner gainst Floyd Mayweather. Would Trout really want to fight Mayweather? Hes undefeated and Mayweather will probaly retire soon leaving the door open for a new comer to take his spot as top Light Middleweight. Is it worth it? I'd like to see Trout fight K9 next.

FMJJr is in jail, Vanes is a TR fighter which is basically no go badlands territory for GB and vice versa, and nobody knows Austin Trout from a brook trout or rainbow trout. I suggest a new manager for Mr. Trout, someone who can work with TR or GB if he wants a fight with either camp......boxing reality 101......
