GOES FROM HITTING THE BOOKS TO HITTING AN OPPONENT IN THE SPAN OF LESS THAN A WEEK

 

LOS ANGELES, June 29 - Top junior middleweight prospect Eddie Gomez has had quite the week so far. On Tuesday, the 18-year-old unbeaten Bronx, New York Native (8-0, 6 KO's) graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. By Thursday, he was on a plane to Puerto Rico and today he weighed in for his Saturday fight against Bayamon, Puerto Rico's Joseph De Los Santos (11-8-3, 4 KO's) at the Coliseo Roger Mendoza in Caguas, Puerto Rico, capping off one of the biggest weeks of his life.

Won the New York Golden Gloves in 2010, but we've seen recently that that doesn't necessarily guarantee success in the Pro Ranks. There was some debate about whether or not he should've turned Pro, including comments to the contrary from TV Commentator/Former Pro Brian Adams who is the Director of the NYGG's.
