Female boxing - Do you watch it?

Theres a pretty big fight in the World of female boxing this Friday, 15 June 2012 taking place at Route 66 Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States between Anne Sophie Mathis, 26(22)-1(1)-0 and Holy Holm 30(9)-2(2)-3.

Its a rematch and last time out Mathis won via 7th round Ko. WBF and IBA World belts on the line.

Is it a fight any of you will watch and do you follow results in the female game?

I wouldn't say i "follow" female boxing but if somebody tells me a great female contest happened on a certain weekend i will find it and watch it. I watched the first Mathis-Holm fight and will definitely watch the rematch if i can find it somewhere.

A big NO for me...it's a bloke sport practiced by blokes...even when I hear a judge is a girl makes me cringe

saying that I watched Million Dollar Baby and I loved it...brilliant casting and well directed....and the story was fantastic and very tragic

job biscuit (I had a tear in my heart)!!!

eh eh!!!

Not for me,i dont like to see women boxing its a dangerous sport and women are not built for the sport.Taking blows on the breast could lead to all kinds of complications, also a low blow.So for me womens boxing is a big no,and have no intrest in it what so ever.

Looking forward to the women's amateur boxing after meeting Natasha jonas at the Froch fight, can't say I've watched a female pro fight though. Have no problem with it though. I've never heard of a serious injury in women's boxing so far?

Im guessing this fight won't be on in the uk tho and it's a stream or download job?

Million Dollar Baby was fucking diabolical - the charqcters were cardboard cutouts, except Freeman's, who was playing the same character from Shawshank.

I dont follow it but I dont have an anti view against it.

It used to be that I didnt like it and would argue against it but my view has soften a lot now that we are seeing "career" fighters rather than girls who went to gyms to keep fit and before you know it they were being lead to a ring for a pro bout.

The sport will have a big boost in the UK this year with the Olympics and the girls selected all coming across as nice down to earth people.

I dont think it will be long until we see a lot more cross promoted (female fights as well as male) cards being put together. The Germans and the Yanks do it so it just a matter of time before it hits these shores in a much larger way.

In all seriousness though, the skill level has increased dramatically over the years, so you have some pretty damn good female boxers in the sport nowadays.

Like a few other people have pointed out though, I can't watch women getting hurt.

If it's a good bout where both contenders are showing flashes of skill but no real power, then it's worth a watch.

Ultimately though, the name of the game is to hurt your opponent, and it still doesn't sit well with me seeing women getting a beating, even if it is in the name of sport and they're good at it....

Instead of applauding the victor, I end up sympathising with the loser when a KO comes in womens boxing.

It's just instinctive and there's not a lot you can really do about it.

I have no problem with women boxing.

I remember Gareth posted me videos of 6 Eastside kids in their debut AMA bouts...

I picked out 2 straight away and reckoned they would do well...

Luke Wilton is now no1 ranked contender for the British fly title and Carly MCNaul has gave a good account of herself too.

I think I'm correct in saying both were regional and all Ireland AMA champs.

Carly reminds me of... Me at the same age! Same style!! clap//
