davemurphy
Maybe someday I'll find it in my heart to forgive him, but to be honest the only thing I can think of is that I'm disappointed that he didn't take one more beating on the way out the door. Btw, was everyone that watched Leo Santa Cruz, who beat Vusi Malinga on last weeks Showtime broadcast, blown away by how much he looked like a younger, smaller version of Margarito? brooklynbrawler
Haha he did - in appearance and style! I always liked Margarito, but I don't think he'll ever be remembered for anything but the handwraps scandal now.
Skav
Three boxers have made a sensible decision this week to retire. Margarito's eye would have just opened up like warm butter against opponents if he decided to carry on. Pacquiao has a tiny habit of ending fighter's careers. LondonRingRules
Haha he did - in appearance and style! I always liked Margarito, but I don't think he'll ever be remembered for anything but the handwraps scandal now. ----- Depends on how average the fan is who remembers. Won't likely to hear a peep about the Grant glove replacements Cotto and Mosley demanded of Floydy and Canelo after brother Nazim objected to a plastic logo insert on the thumbs. All approved by the orgs and commish in plain sight just like Marg. Such is why the average fan will always just be average. Mineself, I'll remember all the great fights as an all action slugger, including being only 20 yrs old and beating the tar out of a fully mature Martinez who is now a touted Ring P4Per. iamasadlittleboy
What happened rip the rumour of him creating on his wife? Also for those who like him, watch Hanzel Martinez, his brother in law who is similar in having an all action no defence style.
Meathead
At the end of the day he cheated. Thats just a fact. For me he was just a fighter who took far too many punches, also my big issue with Froch, and I have never really seen the skill in having a good chin. Its more luck than hard work after all. He wont be missed, expect by Bob Arum who seems to enjoy using him as some sort of sacrificial lamb.
Kimmy
He reminded me of Henry Wharton, the British Super Middleweight who recieved world title shots based on his ability to withstand a beating. His biggest win was surrounded with allegations of cheating. Shane Mosley beat him up and dispatched him in style, that is what i´ll remember. donlevy
Having a good chin might be down to good luck but excellent conditioning really isn't.Margarito was one of the best when it came down to that.
