WelshDevilRob
Holyfield is Confident He Can Beat The Klitschko Brothers By Ryan Burton BoxingScene.com recently caught up with four-time heavyweight champion Evander "Real Deal" Holyfield. The 49 year old fighter defeated Brian Nielsen this past May in his most recent fight. Holyfied traveled to Nielsen's homeland of Denmark to face the 46 year old. Holyfield praised Nielsen for his chin and was satisfied with his performance. "Nielsen is a guy who could take shots. In our fight he proved that he could take good shots and eventually I was able to take him out," stated Holyfield. The Atlanta, Georgia native insists that he will continue fighting until he captures a world title for a fifth time. Since the Klistchko brothers have a stranglehold on the heavyweight titles, Holyfield is hopking to land a fight with either of the brothers. He views both Wladimir and Vitaly Klitschko as equally good fighters. "Both of them are good fighters. It doesn't make a difference which one I fight. They would both be tough fights but every fighter that I face is a tough fight. The thing is that I can make adjustments. The fighters that they face are young, younger than them, but they don't have a pedigree. They don't have a long amateur career like I did. You can't beat a great fighter because you swing hard and are heavier than them. It takes a lot to beat the very best," Holyfield explained. "You have to fight on the inside. You don't look at what you can't do. You look at what you can do. That is how you win a fight." Holyfield said that he can still perform at a high level even at 49 years old because he always stays in the gym and takes care of himself. He also said that he isn't going to set a time table for when he will retire. Holyfield points to Bernard Hopkins as a recent example of fighter continuing to have success late in his career. "Look at Bernard Hopkins. There is a guy who is 46 years old and can still do it. Technology is better. When you apply technology to health you see what you can do. A lot of these guys aren't living like they are supposed to. When I turned 30 they said I was old. Now they don't tell anyone they are old when they are 30. I train everyday because I realize that one of these days these guys are going to think I am not training and that they can get me but they are going to get got." Meathead
The sad fact of the matter is, he will get his shot eventually. With neither side (Klitschkos vs the rest) making any progress in the heavyweight division in making the proper matches that should be happening, eventually one of the Klitschkos will offer Holyfield a small purse which he will take. gavpowell
I doubt it - there are plenty of other names to go at if they get desperate and Holyfield isn't worth anything anymore - not name value, not publicity, not money.
davemurphy
I think it's a case where the ridicule wouldn't be worth whatever money it would bring in. They even swerved Povetkin away from Evander when they were looking for people to defend that WBA Joke "Regular" title against. Sorry, I have to disagree, Meathead, it's getting bleak for challengers/paydays, but Evander's not even drawing well defending agsinst Sherwin Williams and Frans Botha in West Virginia and Denmark. McBride
His analogy with regard to Hopkins is ridiculous, and frankly dangerous. Hopkins has rarely if ever been in wars like Evander has. Its time the guy was protected from himself.

It was bug Brian Neilsen in Denmark...the advertising for that said it all
