The_budweiser
I recon last nights events means Mayweather v Ortiz 2 Khan v Morales Pacquiao v Bradley What you recon guys? Happy if those three fights come off?
londoner
Mayweather v Ortiz II would be the same result. Floyd would beat him easily again but perhaps in less controversial circumstances. Khan vs Morales is an easy win for Khan and a disgrace. Morales isn't an elite fighter anymore and hasn't been for ages. Pacquiao vs Bradley is a good fight. Bradley is undefeated and people say Pacquiao doesn't fight "slick, black fighters". Well, that description sounds like Bradley.
londoner
I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd fight guys like Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley, Marcos Maidana, Mike Jones but his options are a bit thin really. Jones is still pretty new to the World scene whilst Bradley and Maidana would have to come up in weight. Khan should be ready for the fight in 2012. He doesn't have many options at welterweight so maybe he should fight someone from light middleweight? There's Alvarez, Angulo, Cotto, Trout, Martirosyan, Wolak.... grapevine241
i dont think mayweather fights ortiz again. no point. hes only had one rematch in his career. floyd will either take another layoff, fight khan, or fight pacquiao (if he beats marquez) morales and khan is definitely not going to happen (nor should it). morales may fight matthysse or maybe some bum. pacquiao has to beat JMM first so ill wait on him. but to londoner's point... im not sure bradley can be described as a slick fighter. hes a glorified pressure fighter IMO
The_budweiser
Maidana sells to avearage fans as Maidana beat Ortiz, but its a mismatch, is is PPV ? Mayweather will only fight in PPV fights as thats were the money is. Maybe Berto v Mayweather next?

Maybe Berto v Mayweather next? i think berto blew his chance at floyd/pacquiao big time versus ortiz. i could see oritz-berto II happening though, in fact id really like to see that one. if floyd is going to fight someone from 140 its going to be khan not maidana. golden boy just signed devon alexander... lets hope mayweather-alexander doesnt happen. Skav
I reckon that it will be Khan but that fight won't take place until around September next year. With Khan having a UK date in March that would only leave them both two months to prepare if it were to take place in May like I previously thought it might have. I think we'll see Floyd take another year out until that fight happens.
markD
Mayweather V Martinez is what I would like to see. Too much of a risk for Mayweather that. Martinez would be too big for him. We can all dream I guess.

iamasadlittleboy
There was an offer for Martinez to remain under 164 (Ortiz's weight) on fight night, interesting offer if nothing else.

londoner
Lots of people are mentioning that Floyd (or Pacquiao) could fight Martinez at around 154lbs. I don't think that is a good idea because firstly, in the event Floyd or Pacquiao pull off the win i don't think they'll get the credit they deserve and secondly, it's asking a genuine middleweight to come down to a weight he is no longer used to. But nobody seems to be mentioning fights for Floyd and Pacquiao against genuine light middleweights. Put money and negotiations aside, there are some decent fighters at 154lbs: Alvarez, Angulo, Martirosyan, Trout, Williams, Lara, Bundrage and the winner of Cotto vs Margarito (although i'm not sure anyone wants to see either Floyd or Pacquiao fight the winner of that one). Personally, if either does think about fighting above 147lbs again, i'd rather it be against one of the names i've mentioned above, preferably Alvarez or Angulo. Alvarez is inexperieced...and being kept away from anyone who could actually beat him, Angulo would be picked apart and then everyone would be "he's justa puncher-no skill, Williams is done, Trout is completely unknown, Bundrage is 39 or something and very, very ordinary, Lara doesn't bring anything to the table, Margo and Cotto have both been beaten by Pacquiao and are not the fighters they once were... londoner
Alvarez is inexperieced...and being kept away from anyone who could actually beat him' date=' Angulo would be picked apart and then everyone would be "he's justa puncher-no skill, Williams is done, Trout is completely unknown, Bundrage is 39 or something and very, very ordinary, Lara doesn't bring anything to the table, Margo and Cotto have both been beaten by Pacquiao and are not the fighters they once were...[/quote'] But it's also easy to argue it from the other side: Alvarez is the new star on the block, in his prime and undefeated in 39 fights. Angulo is the hard hitting Mexican brawler in his prime coming off 5 wins since his loss to Cintron. Trout is the WBA whatever champion and is at least in his prime (might be better prepared for a fight in a year or so). Williams possibly doesn't interest fans as much as before but he is a towering figure and perhaps if he can get a few wins it might make for an interesting showdown (although that's a BIG IF). Lara arguably beat Williams last time out and looked good doing it. Martirosyan is similar to Trout in that he's a new star on the scene and will get better. Bundrage won't interest any fans and is 38 years old but i suppose he does have a title (IBF).

Bundrage won't interest any fans and is 38 years old but i suppose he does have a title (IBF). Alvarez is the "untested" new star who has yet to beat anyone worth any salt at all. A win over him would be, at this moment, meaningless "oh he was hype". Angulo has what...1 fight in...2 years or something? No title on offer and doesn't have a name making win. Trout holds a paper title, hasn't got a name, brings no money, a paper title holder at best Williams is completely done, don't hide behind the Lara farce as if it was a 1 off, he was lucky against Martinez the first time, he was outboxed by Cintron and Martinez KO'd him...he's done. Lara was arguably beaten himself by Molina (who is possibly the most credible guy at 154) Martirosyan has been lucky in too many fights (very lucky against Ouma, dropped by Saul Roman) he's not world class Pacquiao and Mayweather want big money fights that add something to their career, whilst Alvarez is big money the fight adds little for either man. Light middleweight is just so full of also rans and unproven guys that it's a frustrating division and the division that is allowing Alvarez to do what he wants. McBride
Ffs Pakow cant fight above 147 unless its yet another Catchweight. Mayweasther doesn't demand Catchweights so if he did take on another 154 pounder it wouldn't be a highly rated one. So wtf is the point in either of them attempting to go up?
gavpowell
Mayweather hasn't demanded catchweights thus far, he might change his mind though, or similarly Martinez seems to be offering to drain himself, so possibly that fight could still be made. Depends if it makes enough financial sense.
