fightfan
Is Ortiz the strongest or one of the strongest ever Welterweights? Mayweather v Ortiz 24/7 Overtime mentioned this i was wondering on your views?
Wheelchair
I'm sure fighters such as Hearns, Leonard, Robinson, Griffith to name a few would have something to say about that.
McBride
If we are talking sheer physical strength, then the 3 freaks Baldomir, Clottey, and Margarito must come into play. All are huge Welters that come in at over Super Middle by fight time.
grapevine241
yeah i was thinking WTF at lampley when he said that. i suppose he meant physical strength as opposed to punching power. either way hes wrong
Wheelchair
Yeah, Jim Lamppost has lost the plot a bit there.
londoner
I don't watch 24/7 but if it was said on that show then i assume it was done so to hype the fight up. No way is it true or even close to the truth.

No way is it true or even close to the truth. It was said on 24/7 overtime, which is a host talking to sugar ray leonard, ortiz brother and mayweathers manager etc... about things thats happened in the 24/7 series They asked if Mayweather flashing money like he does is a bad thing with so many familys struggling aswell. littleman370
Victor's much vaunted strength didn't exactly help him too much did it? yes it did, it helped him make the KO that much more spectacular! mlol/
davemurphy
Anytime I hear Strength enter into the conversation, then I question the interviewers knowledge of the sport. If simple brute force strength was such an overwhelming factor then these Football Players (American, NFL) would be more successful than they have been. Hey, I don't know, maybe Ortiz can Bench Press 350 pounds or something, but I know that simply by itself, it's hardly of any use.
