Drug "Lieutenant" Tony Booth Jailed For 9 Years

Thought I'd post this as it's been big news in the local rag since he was arrested a few months ago.

A BOXER at the heart of a city drugs and counterfeiting gang is today starting a nine-year prison sentence.

Tony Booth, 41, was jailed along with six other men, including former Timber Dock landlord George Rowley, chef Christopher Coles and former drugs mentor Peter Brook, for a combined total of almost 30 years.

Police caught the men after launching an undercover sting known as Operation Beech into the supply of cocaine and ecstasy and the passing of counterfeit money in the area.

Booth, who had 166 professional fights during his 18-year career, was "pivotal" to introducing all the other defendants to each other and used contacts he had made throughout his boxing career to obtain drugs and counterfeit currency for his co-accused.

Tony Booth done a book signing in London a couple of years ago,and i bought a copy and got him to sign the book to me.He came across as a nice guy,and was doing quite a good trade selling his book at the signing.Saying that, anyone that deals in drugs to me is a scumbag for the misery they bring to families of the stupid kids what get mixed up in the drug scene. He fell on hard times and needed the money, why not like most of us get out there and work for a living.Or like a lot of people live within your means, why mess other peoples lifes 's up because you are going through a tough time.
