gavpowell
I haven't seen this elsewhere so I thought I'd post it: Morales is now fighting one Pablo Cesar Cano, a fellow Mexican who is 22(17)-0-1. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=352193&cat=boxer I've only seen clips but he seems decent, if unexceptional. Seems to be reasonably quick, hits quite hard, good variety of punches. Anyone seen anything of him before?
WelshDevilRob
Don't know much about him but have gone for an early stoppage win for Morales. Guy was down in 1st in his last fight, hasn't fought anyone and is 21 - big occassion and probably way too early.
Wheelchair
Not seen him, but this is being set up for Morales to win another belt.
Joe Ko
The opponent isnt great, Morales should win comfortably.
littleman370
excluding the ridiculous title aspect of things, it's not such a bad fight on short notice. i haven't seen cano, but his record indicates he's probably one of those fun fighting mexicans and against morales it's hard to imagine it won't be any fun! The Galveston Giant
I suppose i'm glad Morales is still on the bill and the opponent could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for the title, would have liked to have seen Crolla get a fight if the title wasn't on the line but they have already come out saying the timing would have been all wrong with Morales already prepared for a tough fight in Matthysse, said they were hoping Morales would underestimate Crolla which i thought was very honest. londoner
The fight itself doesn't look too bad for a late notice fight but the fact the WBC title was on the line from the beginning (when Barrios was originally the opponent) is a disgrace. Morales will be handed a World title at a 4th weight class just so he can say he is the first fighter from below the USA to do so.

GG- Yeah, I think they kind of want us to feel as though, "hey, I'm just glad Morales is still on the card", which kind of leads me to question the whole thing. I think they might've had Cano in mind the whole time, and possibly they floated Crolla first to make the other choice look better. Maybe I'm just too suspicious when it comes to the WBC grin//

Let's face it, when Erik Morales was actually present at the WBC Press Conference to announce their plans, you pretty much knew who was supposed to go home with the Title. iamasadlittleboy
Will this really give Morales a better claim than Arce to be the first Mexican weight champion? Considering it was Sulaiman who downplayed Arces claim.

Considering it was Sulaiman who downplayed Arces claim. If Morales wins the WBC title, neither are 4 weight World champions still. Morales is a genuine 3 weight World champion though. There's a reason no boxer below the USA has become a 4 weight World champion: Because it's so difficult to do.
