I would say right off the bat the hardest part of being a trainer is when you see a boxer with skills and talent and he doesn't use them. He won't use them. He wont push himself to utilize the talent you know he has in him. He literally throws it away because he either doesn't realize how much talent he has or he doesn't truly care as much as he should. The best part is when he does. Is there anything particular as a coach that you try teach your fighters? I am actually very big on the little tricks of the trade that I've learned over the years. I like the old school tricks, the spinning and the maneuvering your opponents into something. Drawing them into things. For me it's not just about throwing punches and taking punches, it's about setting things up in that ring. How does your experience within the ring help you when training other fighters? I can think of many, many moments when my experience as a boxer has helped me in dealing with boxers that I've trained. Sometimes it is a fact that a boxer will run into a situation that only someone who has fought before can really recognize and understand and I am pretty good at dealing with those moments in the favor of my boxers. When I train a boxer I like for him to know and feel that I know and feel what he's going through at all stages of the day.
