RAZZ-MCFC
Former champion David Haye (25-2, 23KOs) is one of the names being considered as a future opponent for Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15KOs), who hold's the WBA's "regular" heavyweight title. Haye has been inactive since the July decision loss to WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko. The British fighter promised to retire in October, but prior to Povetkin's title winning effort over Ruslan Chagaev, Haye's comments appeared on BoxingScene.com where he pledged his support to Povetkin. Povetkin returns on the tentative date of December 17. A few names, like Evander Holyfield and Alexander Dimitrenko, have been mentioned as possible opponents. During a recent press conference in Moscow, Povetkin's manager Vladimir Hryunov was quoted by BoxingScene's Alexey Sukachev - stating that a fight with Haye will also be considered. Hryunov: “Haye will surely be considered, as he is ranked #2 by the World Boxing Association." http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=43433
Wheelchair
Haye should stick to his retirement plans after that dismal effort last time out.
brooklynbrawler
Haye would destroy Povetkin imo, but not with an effort like a few of his "tactical" approaches....

Agree, i definitely think he'd blitz Povetkin. I'd pick him to still beat any of the current heavyweights except the Klitschko's.

But then you thought he'd batter the Klitschkos - even after the Wlad fight you were saying you still thought a fully fit Haye would beat Wlad, so maybe you're not entirely taking an impartial view on this ;)

And i said a Haye with different tactics ;) He'd definitely have a much better chance if he actually gave it a go.
gavpowell
Assuming Haye's tactics were to be Corrie Sanders, you might be right. Only I don't think Haye's golf game is any good.
littleman370
haye-povetkin is a nice fight. probably be some fun action if david has ten good toes (anyone else think he will NEVER live that down?). haye probably beats povetkin on points
Joe Ko
Good fight. The toe will always be remembered, he cannot retire he can acheive so much more, he hasnt really done much as a heavyweight interms of beating good opponents, Povetkin is unbeaten and a decent top 5 heavyweight. iamasadlittleboy
Povetkin's best win is certainly better than Haye's best win at heavyweight ...

WelshDevilRob
If Haye has the chance to fight Povetkin then he should take it. Its a winnable fight and Povetkin is one of the best Heavyweights in the World behind the brothers.
Skav
Haye needs to shut up and work hard from here on. He can possibly redeem himself by doing this. I think he can beat everyone bar the Klits. But if he retires then he'll be remembered as another Naseem Hamed, somebody who knew he didn't have what it took to beat the elites. davemurphy
If Haye wants to jump back into the mix, that's fine with me and I DO THINK that Haye-Povetkin is a fight I'm interested in seeing and one I give Haye at least even odds on winning. But what I want the least is having to listen to Haye friggin' TALK instead of actually DOING...........if you want to fight again then fight, if you want to retire then retire, but please shut the hell up if you don't plan on doing anything BUT talk. londoner
I haven't seen anything from Haye at HW to suggest he can beat any genuine World class fighter. He looked "impressive" against Harrison, Ruiz and Barrett but that's because he was fighting Harrison, Ruiz and Barrett. He looked awful against Valuev and Wladimir. The latter two are the only World class opponents he has fought at HW. I haven't seen anything to suggest he could beat a HW with a pulse.
