  • Fury to face Whyte?

That's what I read is a possibility now. Since Big Eddie and his protected protege are doing their best to swerve a Fury-showdown, Fury might be facing Dillian "Thug" Whyte. Not sure if Tyson himself wants that, but he may not have a better choice-except another fight with Wilder, which would be pointless.

As it stands, Deyonce has triggered his rematch clause which the loser had an option for, within 28 days. So Fury's next fight - like it or not - is Fury-Wilder III. (On paper).

Looking at the rankings, Whyte cannot be far off the next WBC mandatory challenger, so he would logically be the next opponent for the winner of Fury-Wilder III.

That said, there is the undercurrent of 'stepaside money' applied to Fury-Wilder III. As this is now a (literally) once in a lifetime opportunity for Sperm to put a fight together for the totally undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, by making the AJ-Fury fight, as between them they hold every belt. And this fight would probably be the biggest money spinning fight in fight history.

Wilder is well aware that Sperm will probably offer him almost as much money to stepaway from a III to clear the way for AJ-Fury to be made, than he would likely make actually getting battered in the III. Without even taking a punch.

Hence the reason he has triggered the rematch clause, not particularly because he relishes another beating - but because there is free money sloshing around.

--- So Wilder now relegated to being the turd in the punch bowl, classic.

I suspect DAZN already in major league hock over huge monies being paid Josh and Canelo and Fury by himself has never proven to be a big draw. Net result is Fury vs Josh will do well, esp in UK, it won't come close to the McG,Manny,May numbers.

And history shows when these big $ fights get made, usually one or both have slipped a notch or two.
