Cableaddict
I thought I'd start a list of the current "must watch" prospects. As always, defining "prospect" is basically impossible, nbe we know the general guidelines, so..... First a bunch I got from other fans / websites, then my own personal picks at the end: ================================================== ================== ---------- FROM OTHER FANS: ## Vergil Ortiz jnr - We all know about this kid already. Wow ! ## Michel Rivera - Lightweight (17-0-0, 11 Ko's) “Fast with real power in both hands…. but needs to work on his defense. Omar Juarez - Super lightweight (6-0-0, 4 KOs) 20 y-o “His movement, footwork and shot selection are very good indeed. A crisp puncher and very fast.” Joseph Adorno - Lightweight (14-0-0, 12 KOs). 20 y-o Puerto-Rican “Fast and accurate with real power in both hands, especially the left hook.” Ranfis Escarnacion - Featherweight (17-0-0, 13 Kos) 25 y-o Dominican “Great shot selection, with plenty of power. Has a tendency to sit in the pocket too long, resulting in him taking too many head shots.” Jesse Rodriguez - Flyweight (10-0-0, 6 KO's) 19 y-o southpaw. Highly skilled with great movement, both upper body and footwork. Fast and hits hard.” Reymart Gaballo - (23-0-0, 20 KO's) 23 year-old bantamweight from the Phillipines. Fast and VERY powerful . Somewhat lacking in defense.” Koki Inoue - Yopung KO artist. Omar Juarez Tramaine Willams Edgar Berlanga Chris Colbert Joey Spencer Jesus Ramos Jose Ramirez Nikita Abiby Xander Zayas. ================================================== ======== ---------- MY PERSONAL PICKS : Ortiz Jr and Rivera, of course. And Shakur Stevenson, of COURSE. Plus: ## Israil Madrimov (JMW - Uzbekistan) 4 (4) -0 / 24 y-o. - Looks like Golovkin, but moves a lot more. Three wins via KO in 2019, against "reasonably-credible" opponents. ### Khuseyn Baysangurov (SWW - Ukraine) 15 (13) - 1 / 25 y-o In the AMs, He defeated Anthony Fowler His one loss (A UD in 2018) was a BLATANT robbery. He beat the living snot out of his opponent, for ten solid rounds, turning his face into hamburger. I'm REALLY liking this guy Shades of Mike Tyson, doing the peekaboo style. Bobbing and weaving on the inside with those wide, thudding punches. As of 2017, he’s still fighting only in The Ukraine. # Kudura Kaneko (WW - Afghanistan) 11 (8) - 0 / 21 y-o Real Name: Kudura Tura No amateur background, but he was anunbeaten national youth champ. Moved to Japan at 15 y-o, and trains with Minoru Kaneko. Nov 2018: He shocked the boxing world by KO’ing former Japanese national WW champ Toshio Arikawa, in 3 rounds. (He put Arikawa down in round 1, got beat up a little in round 2 but finished with a powerful flurry, then took Arikawa out in the third.) ## Lindolfo Delgado (SLW - Mexico) 11 (11) - 0 / 24 y-o WOW ! Deadly power from HUGE punches. Also goes to the body like Rocky! - And he has great defensive footwork & head movement, as well. #### Gary Antonio Russell (BW - USA ) 17 (12) - 0 / 27 y-o DEFINITELY A prospect to watch! He has lightning hands and tremendous fundamentals. His 2015 KO of Rubalcava was vicious, the dude went out like a light bulb. Martin Bakole. (HW. 15-1, 27 y-o.) A prospect now entering journeyman-hood. After his loss to the very underrated Michal Hunter, Bakole (Once my favorite HW prospect) has come back, with four straight KO’s in 2019. Not the stiffest of competition, but taking out Wach and Kingpin makes a statement. Aleksey Egorov ( CW - Russia ) 10 (7) - 0 / 28 y-o European AMs Champion, stopping Mammedov, Ahmatovic, and other top guys. Sonny Conto HW. 5-0 / 23 y-o) 5 fights / wins in 2019, four via KO. He hasn’t faced any real opposition yet, in fact his opponent list would make Deontay Wilder hide in shame, but so far Conto looks fantastic. WHAT A JAB ! Constantin Benjaru (CW - Moldova / USA) 14 (4) - 0 / 35 y-o 2017 he comfortably UD’d Thabiso Mchunu ! - then he didn’t fight at all in 2018, and only once in 2019, against a total can. Edgar Berlanga (MW - USA) 13 (13) -0 / 22 y-o 6’' 1" tall ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ## And last, with a bullet : Shohjahon Ergashev birth name: Шохжахон Эргашев nickname (I'm not kidding) "Descendant of Tamerlane." This guy is a SLW, with a 71" reach, and a record of 18-0 with 16 KO's. I still consider him a prospect, because nobody knows about him. And yeah, you've never heard of him, but his last three opponents had VERY respectable records, and he took out two of them. I've only seen 2 of his fights, be he looks the goods to me. Solid fundamentals, super-fast hands, decent defense, & HUGE, thudding power. He's patient, but then aggressive as hell when it's time to go for the kill. He probably has lousy management, otherwise he'd be on everybody's radar by now. Edited February 16, 2020 by Cableaddict
selij
fast and VERY powerful . Somewhat lacking in defense. Aptly describes my basketball team the Brooklyn Nets  Surely the 21 yr old Kingry gets added now ? :thumb:
LondonRingRules
--- Kingry a bonifide contender being groomed as Oscars new money man. Cotrains with Canelo under the Reynosas. Guaranteed titles 135-147 if he keeps focus.

Though I'm not sure the pretty one still qualifies as a prospect. He's young, but has 20 fights, some silly little WBC belt, and everyone knows who is is by now. Jeez, dat powah ! repsac
I think Brian Ceballo is gonna make some great strides in 2020. Also really like what i see in Ammo Williams. Hoping he has a busy year, and progresses nicely.

iamasadlittleboy
*stretches* A trio of 105lb future world champions Ginjiro Shigeoka (5-0, 4) - Brilliant little boxer-puncher, stopped Rey Loreto last year Yudai Shgeoka (2-0, 1) - The older of the two Shigeoka's brothers is arguably more rounded than his lil bro Hasanboy Dusmatic (1-0, 1) - Former amateur stand out Also BIG fan of Katsuki Mori (6-0, 1) at 105lbs Tuguldur Byambatsogt (2-0) - Mongolian140/147 guy, a proper skillster, his competition is as tough at it gets for a 2-0 dude A trio of Japanese youngsters who are going to make their debuts later this year - Ryutaro Nakagaki, Toshihiro Suzuki and Keisuke Matsumoto...all of whom have announced they are turning pro in the last few days Chainoi Worawut (9-0-1, 8) - Heavy handed, but flawed, Thai puncher Da Won Gang (4-0, 2) - Korean teenager, regarded as hot stuff Sung Min Yuh (4-0) - The most naturally gifted Korean in a generation...but also potentially the laziest, his future really depends on whether his team will put a foot up his ass Edited February 21, 2020 by iamasadlittleboy

Does he seem like a local champ, or like a guy who could make it in the west as well?

He kinda' fights like a prime Floyd Mayweather. - And he seems just as comfortable fighting off the back foot as he does pushing the action, depending upon his opponent. Still a bit rigid, but he put his shots together well against Yun, and looked good against Adachi. See him beating Nagahama for the regional title later in the month. Sadly I see OPBF likely being his level, maybe fringe world level (think Keita Obara), but Kaneko Vs Beppu, Obara, Nagano or Yada would all be great domestic/regional level bouts.
