mofo2
James DeGale will fight on the under-card of the Nathan Cleverly v Tony Bellew CW fight in Liverpool Arena on 22nd November. The cannon fodder will be Mexican Marco Antonio Periban
The_budweiser
Re: DeGale’s Next Opponent Named Marco Antonio Periban hasn't won in his last 3 fights, Lost to Sakio Bika, drew with Badou Jack and lost to J'Leon Love. Not sure how good this fight will be. Hopefully this is DeGales last fight before a big title fight.

smokin
Re: DeGale’s Next Opponent Named Bit of a insult to us fans really especially when you consider this card is for a PPV . Just makes me content that I have made the right decision in not buying this .
WelshDevilRob
Re: DeGale’s Next Opponent Named I've no problem with the fight, it's a ticking over fight against an opponent who has mixed in good company. Would be madness for DeGale to be in a harder fight, when he is next in-line for a World title-shot. Marco Antonio Periban fits the bill at this stage. BoztheMadman
DeGale vs Periban set for 22 November Chunky finally fighting a true contender! If he wins this impressively, then he's def gonna beat Froch. :boxing: Marco Antonio Periban is better than Brandon Gonzales.

Anyone who loses to Bika isn't an elite fighter and is, at best, a gatekeeper for the top-level.
iamasadlittleboy
Re: DeGale’s Next Opponent Named No real problems with this bout but the whole show in general seems to be about these B class match ups. Periban is heavy handed but so slow, poor stamina and and appears mentally weak when cut. DeGale should see him off but as someone else mentioned 6 years as a professional and this is, barring the Grove fight, the most important contest of DeGale's career-fucking hell. I can guarantee you he won't be destroyed easily like Gonzales.

My point is Bika is utter garbage, so if you're any good you shouldn't be running him close, you should be cantering home with a few rounds to spare! Cableaddict
Re: DeGale’s Next Opponent Named DeGale should be fighting Froch right now. IMO, he beat Groves. That decision just makes me crazy, as it completely derailed DeGale's career. Periban? That's a stay-busy fight.
