East Side Boxing Posted September 30, 2013 Share Posted September 30, 2013 After a stop-star career, Sunderland heavyweight Danny Hughes is raring to get back into action under new promoter Phil Jeffries. Hughes, previously guided by Northeast mainstay Tommy Conroy, has only lost to Audley Harrison and Michael Sprott in a 15-fight career, with both those reverses coming within the Prizefighter format. Now, under the Pro Box North East banner, ‘Bad News’ Hughes is looking to stay busy and get into some kind of title contention within the next year. “I decided to work with Phil as he is pretty busy putting shows on all year round and has good contacts with lots of other promoters to get me work,” explained Hughes of the switch in promoters. “Phil is also a friend and I know he will work hard to get me to a title. “My plans are to fight in December in Newcastle just to get back in the swing of things and then after that a good 50-50 fight.
