The_budweiser
Top British amateur Bradley Saunders is set to be out for six weeks after breaking his right thumb in a fall. It is a further blow for welterweight Saunders, who missed this month's World Championships in Milan after breaking his thumb during a training bout. Saunders, 23, from Stockton-on-Tees says he hopes to be fit to return to the ring before Christmas. Saunders has been in good form, winning all his 14 fights since losing in the second round of the Beijing Olympics. In May, he beat world number one and Olympic champion Alexei Tishchenko before the original injury, which came in the first round of an exhibition bout with Irishman Phil Sutcliffe. Saunders expects his next opponent to be American Frankie Gomez, who won the silver medal in Milan, when GB take on the USA in a match in London.
