The_budweiser
WBC number one heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte 23-1 (17) has dismissed the boxing ability of WBC champion Deontay Wilder 40-0 (39). The 29-year-old Jamaican-born London-based Whyte, who knocked out Australian contender Lucas Browne is six one-sided rounds at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night, believes he has the skills to exploit the 6-foot-7 American’s limited technique. “Deontay Wilder seems to be a serious puncher, but he’s got no respect for boxing skills or boxing technique,” Whyte told Sky Sports in the UK. “There is lots of room and loopholes to outbox him and to knock him out as well… as you can see that when he gets in trouble, he’s in real trouble. He doesn’t have a really good chin and he can be hit.” Who wins? LondonRingRules
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi --- I'd prob pick whyte, but he ain't a paragon of boxing skills either. Be a good way to secure his Josh rematch as the WBC champ.
BoztheMadman
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi Whyte can box to a certain degree, but he doesn't hit hard enough (despite what happened on Saturday) to knock Wilder out. And also-he has that shape/fitness problem. In this last fight he didn't look very fit at all. Plus, he is the smaller, shorter man also. He's not as good as Ortiz, thus the result is pretty much given there.
LondonRingRules
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi --- Ortiz had entered into an inactive phase because of his drug bust of using high blood pressure meds as an old man. Never thought much of Whyte as a contender, but he's shown some progress and taken less punishment. He'd still be undefeated if he faced Deyonce's competition. Dave_
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi Wilder looked dog shit against Ortiz, who in turn looked like a 50 year old, after his onslaught he had nothing left and basically let Wilder build up his tank enough to throw the flurry that ended the fight. Whyte is a better boxer but Wilder can clip anyone, Joshua included, they're just a poor bunch
Cableaddict
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi Wilder looked dog shit against Ortiz,.... You have GOT to be trolling. I do think Whyte is a very dangerous opponent for Wilder, though. Actually more dangerous than AJ, due to his aggressive, come-forward style & his ability to (somewhat) attack from angles. - And I've been sayng this for several years. selij
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi Hearn Increases Payday Offer To Wilder To Defend WBC Strap Eddie Hearn says that they have tabled an improved offer on Monday night (Mar 26) to WBC world champion Deontay Wilder for a summer fight. Brixton heavyweight Whyte knocked out Lucas Browne in the sixth round at Greenwich’s 02 Arena on Saturday to retain his WBC silver title. And the South Londoner wants Wilder next. The unbeaten American is keen on a unification clash with Anthony Joshua, the IBF/IBO and WBA belt-holder is looking to add the WBO strap to his collection when he faces Joseph Parker in Cardiff on Saturday night. Wilder is scheduled to do punditry work for Sky Sports in Wales but Hearn told iFL TV: “I’ve been told he is not coming. The whole epicentre of heavyweight boxing and boxing is in Cardiff on Saturday night. “How bad does he want the fight if he is not coming? I don’t think he wants to get mixed up with Dillian and Josh. I don’t know [if it is because he] now realises Dillian is coming and he’ll be down his neck and his bum has gone. But who is advising these people? He would get more media than in his last 10 fights put together. “We have got two boxers who will take his belt – AJ and Dillian Whyte. We have made an improved offer to Deontay Wilder [for the Whyte fight]. If he doesn’t take this fight he is a joker. “I’m not going to talk numbers but it is a significant increase. That was only made last night.” Source: Richard Cawley And just to show you what a complete shit-out Deyonce is - he previously rejected $4m to face Whyte from Hearn citing his fee was $7m but then had a fight with Ortiz for $2.1m. Gerald
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi Wilder again claiming the he'll fight Whyte next if Joshua is on the contract. When he previously demanded this Hearn was very dismissive - saying that they're two different fighters and almost suggesting that 'contracts just don't work like that'. But it doesn't seem like there would be a need to put a Joshua fight in a Wilder-Whyte contract - instead just have an independent contract between Joshua and Wilder stating that the fight takes place subject to Wilder fighting and beating Whyte. This happens all of the time. I've a feeling that Hearn might start to budge on this if he is really keen to get Whyte a shot at Wilder before Joshua and before next year. Reports are now coming in that Hearn is making a move to sign Wilder himself. That would make all of the arrangements pretty straightforward but I can't see it happening. Even if it's to Wilder's advantage, I don't think he trusts Hearn whatsoever. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/boxing/anthony-joshua-next-opponent-deontay-wilder-sign-deal-eddie-hearn-matchroom-a8278021.html
LondonRingRules
Re: Dillian Whyte dismisses Deontay Wilder's boxing skill, wants fight in UK - Who wi --- Well, remember Hearn sighed Ortiz to great expectations that never panned out and was nowhere to be seen for the Wilder fight. A one or two fight contract, is that really a legit signing?
