Joshua-Parker close to being signed, 65%-35% split fair?

WBO champion Joseph Parker’s promoters, Duco Events, have noted comments from WBA and IBF champion Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn that a 75-25 per cent split of revenue in Joshua’s favour from a potential blockbuster unification bout in 2018 would be “undervaluing” Parker.

“We’ve said all along that a 35-65 per cent was both fair – and our bottom line,” David Higgins of Duco Events said.

Re: Joshua-Parker close to being signed

And yet Hearn has said that AJ will NOT be facing Parker in 2018.

It sounds like the idiots that train & promote Parker still think they can just TALK their way into a championship fight.

Pretend it's happening and then magically ...

Of course, Eddie Hearn is also often full of crap, so who dafuk knows.............

I think Parker would have a chance, although a small one, at getting inside on AJ and talking him out, or maybe winning on points. He doesn't have 1-punch power, which puts him at a huge disadvantage against a power puncher with a long reach, but Parker is tough and usually has a very high output, plus he goes to the body like Rocky Balboa. AJ has gotten much better at protecting his body, but it's still vulnerable when he goes on the attack.

With one notable exception, AJ has never fought a truly dangerous opponent in his entire pro career.

I think Hearn was probably telling the truth. Keep him protected until ready for Wilder.

Re: Joshua-Parker close to being signed

"Anthony Joshua "would love to fight" Joseph Parker but promoter Eddie Hearn says Parker will not receive the 35% share of the revenue he is asking for."

I must be missing something here, but surely a 65-35 split is more than adequate? Especially since they are so sure AJ is going to win anyway, which allows him to fight on for more millions, he's got plenty of fights ahead of him regardless of outcome anyway. Sounds like pure greed more than anything!

So much for just wanting to create a legacy to stand alongside Ali, Tyson and Lewis. Money first and foremost, of course!

Re: Joshua-Parker close to being signed

--- Arum says the Parker offer is legit since there's unification at stake and the fight would do great business.

Hearn just playing his new status as the current big dog in the promotional decline of boxing. They'll fight for that or near that split by next year unless one of them gets bigger money to fight Deyonce.

Joseph Parker's team is flying to the UK to meet Eddie Hearn. Eddie Hearn/Anthony Joshua are in the driving seat - hence why they ain't flying out to New Zealand. Joshua is the money man and Hearn the experienced promoter.

Parker's team have done well on social media (some looked bad but it gained attention). Parker is a damn good Heavyweight but looked crap in his last two fights. Can't cut-off a ring. I would've preferred to see him against Lucas Browne next - good fight and huge in Oceania. Parker has fought decent competition coming up but stagnated - he needs a new trainer. If it's in March then likely to be in Wales (Stadium with closed roof).

Wilder's team have gone quiet, as they can't offer the money. They need the UK revenue and Joshua controls that. What is clear, it that Joshua is the money man not these other fighters or their teams. There is no money behind Wilder otherwise his team would be getting a Parker fight. AJ is the man in the driving seat that's why they are all coming to him for a payday rather than making genuine offers.

[h=1]What is a Fair Split for an Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker Fight?[/h]One of the most interesting matchups that could be made in the heavyweight class is a showdown between IBF/WBA champion Anthony Joshua and WBO champion Joshua Parker.

Joshua (20-0, 20 KO’s) and Parker (24-0, 18 KO’s) are two of the biggest names in the division and it’s a match that is being discussed in public, behind closed doors, on boxing forums, and even at the negotiating table.

Barry's still concussed from the left hook that Holyfield flattened him with in 1984.

I get all of that, about how the numbers stack up etc but it sort of works both ways!

AJ needs opponents to showcase his talent and add to his legacy as much as they need him to sell the fight and earn them some money.

At what point does a boxer seriously justify refusing a deal because he'll ONLY earn £8million from it instead of say £10million (just imaginary numbers for convenience).

And as I have said before if AJs intentions are all about legacy, why are the finances such a stumbling block at all? He is a very rich man already and will become even more so, beyond even his wildest dreams, in future years :noidea:

If he is truely all about his legacy he should be fine with a 65% cut thinking that will just be a slice of whats to come into his bank account, knowing he is building on that legacy he is so adament of creating.

--- Agreed, but at the end of the day, all this a bunch of huff and bluff at the poker table of negotiations. They'll fight and be happy with their purses. Good way to build attentions and each fighter's fans up before they meet. Laughin' all the way to the bank they are...
