  • RIP Alan Minter

    Alan Minter (born 17 August 1951) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1972 to 1981. He held the undisputed middleweight title in 1980, having previously held the British middleweight from 1975 to 1976, and the European middleweight title twice between 1977 and 1979. As an amateur, Minter won a bronze medal in the light-middleweight division at the 1972 Summer Olympics.

    A tough and skilled fighter who was a world champion when it meant something. He would have had fewer losses on his record had it not been for the tender skin around his eyes.

      Very sad, my thoughts are with his family. He was a true world class talent who had a good career but maybe could have achieved even more if he wasn't so prone to cutting. RIP

        Yea RIP Alan - first boxer I ever collected fights of - and I'm still at it now - so I spose he got me into this obsession. Sad, sad day.

          The boxing world is in mourning after the news broke that former world champion Alan Minter died at the age of 69 following a long battle with Cancer.

            Was one of the first boxers i can say was a favourite of mine as a kid always watched sportsnight on BBC with dad and minter always made it a better nights viewing
