  • News world changing???

France in late October are introducing a new law but how will it change news reporting if other countrys follow suit?

Consequently, any digital platform (such as Google or Facebook) using all or part of a press article must compensate press publishers.

Article L. 218-4 of the IPC specifies that this compensation is based on the exploitation revenues of any kind, direct or indirect, of the company reproducing or showing press publications in a digital form. If it is not possible, it is assessed on a flat rate basis.

Newspapers/magazines etc all copy snippets from each other and spin article after article. If UK adopt this law, we might actually see newspapers having to work harder for there stories.

    GOOGLES EMAIL

Google systems have designated https://www.ringnews24.com/ a European press publication, as defined by EU Directive 2019/790 on copyright and related rights in the digital single market. In the wake of a new copyright law transposing this Directive in France, this designation removes the display of text snippets, video previews, and thumbnail images from your property or properties in France. This is an advance notification; changes in Google Search will not occur until late October 2019.

Shame most of the journalists have been sacked or retired - our national media is getting worse by the day as everyone takes wire copy or lifts stories from social media.

In Scotland the simplest Tweet regarding Rangers/Celtic is turned into a big drama.

And don't get me started on pointless articles about what there girlfriends are wearing or a fan commited a crime wearing a rangers-celtic strip. It's as if they have nothing proper to report now.

It's the press articles using others content that needs compensation. They just grab and credit, if they can be bothered.
