Maybe Don King still has some power. Oliveira is one of 3 ranked boxers from the USA alongside Ryan Coyne (#9) and Sean Monaghan (#10). No Brit is ranked. Shumenov defends this weekend against Tamas Kovacs (#14), only man ranked lower is Ilshat Khusnulgatin (#15), answers on a post card as to why he is ranked folks. Super Middleweight Highest ranked fighter is interim champion Stanyslav Kashtanov (#1) of Ukraine. There are two Brits ranked with Groves (#2) joined by Paul Smith (#13). Golvokin's up coming defense against Adama (#14) comes against a man who has been ranked the same position since October. Light Flyweight Interim champion Alberto Rossel (#1) is the highest ranked fighter and also on of just 2 Peruvians ranked in any division Champion Kazuto Ioka faces the highly ranked Felix Alvarado (#3) on New Years Eve Japan's wonder kid Noaya Inoue (#4) moves up 1 place due to Gilberto Parra losing his ranking courtesy of a loss to the previously unranked Martin Tecuapetla (#5) No Americans or Brits to talk about Minimumweight Ryo Miyazaki is still the champion (though it seems likely he will vacate soon) Hekkie Budler (#1) is the interim champion and highest ranked challenger Thailand are the dominant force here with Wanheng Menayothin (#3), Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr (#6), Kwanthai Sithmorseng (#7), Pigmy Kokietgym (#8) and Samartlek Chaiyonggym (#10). I'm kind of stunned to see Chris John 6th at FW, you lose to a talented fighter like Vetyeka and then all of sudden others flood ahead of you, at least in the WBA eyes ;) and as you've noted in several divisions, it's interesting to note the lack of love the WBA has for Americans and Brits. But then their ranking of Macrus Oliveria, Ryan Coyne, and Sean Monaghan at LH is equally stupid in the opposite direction, NONE belong in among anyone's top 175 pounders.
