Once it was very easy for me, there were the years in Italy there was a world title a week, there were great organizers who also wore great foreign fighters, now is a miracle to have one title in one year......

Then you need passion, how many times (when I was younger) I took my backpack and I was leaving, trying to save, even sleeping in airports, but at least once a month I had to see a bit of boxing, i could not see everything that I wanted to see, however, playing football on Sundays was not simply, how many times I played the championship game without sleep.....but i Love this sport !!!

Re: How Many World Title Fights have you Attended

I have never really been able to enjoy any big event live, as I could never afford seats close enough. However when I travelled to Cardiff to watch the Lewis v Bruno fight, I was able to take advantage of a seemingly half empty stadium and therefore moved seats to end up sat very close (a few feet) to George Foreman, who was probably doing commentary for HBO.

Another time I went to watch Hamed v Ingle at the M.E.N (but had gone because Hearns was fighting on the undercard) and bumped into Jess Harding, a British heavyweight contender, who gave me his ringside pass, as he was sitting with some other mates. I was sat next to Micheal Buffer.

So my list goes.

Benn v Eubank 2 old trafford

Eubank v Thompson 2 M.E.N

Holyfield v Lewis M.S.G

Also the night before, we went to see Rahman v Rush and Dannell Nicholsen v Swindell. I met so many boxers who were there for the big fight the night after, that it made it a far better experience than what I had travelled to the states for.

Hamed v Ingle, with Hearns v Miller

Lewis v Bruno

Rob Reid v Soon Botes...only because he was a mate of some mates of mine, not that I was interested.

I also watched the whole Leonard v Hagler bill, live by satellite at the Apollo theatre Manchester, which doesn't count really, but it was like I was there, but far less expensive.

Hey Rob, we were both at the Lewis v Bruno fight. Might have even spoken to you, who knows?

I met Horace Notice whilst there, nice guy. The only boxer I have met, who I wasn't very impressed with was Jnr Witter. Very cocky, and almost seemed like he was trying to intimidate me.

I had gone to the N.E.C in Birmingham,to meet other boxers, and he wasn't really there as one of the guys you could pay for an autographed photo of, and whilst speaking to Johnny Nelson, he(Jnr) seemed to think that he should be being made more of a fuss over, but when I asked him if I could have a photo with him, he started saying that he wanted money, and that I shouldn't expect it for free, whilst I was paying others. I will willingly pay for a picture with Joe Frazier, Duran etc, but Witter? Not me, how about you?

I was in the very back row with my cousin, Dad and Uncle. Think £30 tickets but remember, as you recall, getting moved across. Grew up as a Bruno fan but when Lennox came on the scene, he seemed to be the one that might deliver what my grandfathers had both missed - a British World Heavyweight champion. Was, also, Joe Calzaghe's pro debut that night.

Awesome that you met Horace Notice - saw a few of his fights on the BBC - stablemate of Bruno and Mason. Gutting that he had to call it a day early.

Haven't met an arrogant boxer yet, though I tend to meet them as I'm interviewing them and usually on the Welsh scene. I'm lucky that Gary Lockett and Tony Borg always allow me access to their gyms - Great trainers and it's great to watch the sparring and training that goes on.
