Maidana Signs With PBC - Comeback fight alone makes him $1.5m

Picking thru' the bones of a couple of sources;

On Friday 8th Feb, Maidana made his rumored comeback official. On Saturday (9th), a 'source close to the situation' gave details on the comeback, Maidana's strategy, contract details, current weight situation, and a potential opponent.

Are you ready for a Maidana-Broner rematch?

According to the source, Maidana's conditioning is the first stumbling block. He reportedly weighs upwards of 200 pounds currently and needs to lose 50-55 pounds to work himself back into shape.

The 7 fight deal with PBC will pay him around $1.5 million for his first fight alone. That bout could take place at middleweight or junior middleweight. As he brings his weight down, the big plan is for him to get to 147 pounds for his second bout, where he would ideally face Broner in a rematch. Original reports said that he will once again train with Robert Garcia in Riverside, California but that seems either unconfirmed or not happening now.

Maidana will be 36 in July and he hasn't fought since he lost a rematch to Floyd Mayweather Jr in September 2014.

He has been seen training in TUE's Las Vegas gym and is workiing out with Pacroid's former strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza.

What says y'all ?

Re: Maidana Signs With PBC - Comeback fight alone makes him $1.5m

--- Maidana never big on training mostly relied on power.

When he got with Robert Garcia who suffers no fools in training camp, he became well trained and nuanced enough to make the people think he beat Floydy who got quite a few boos in Dallas Saturday. While enjoying the good life in Argentina he was also quite physically active, so he wasn't the lump of lard he's being made out to be, but true he may have to move to jrmiddle where I think he can still carry his power.

Hes es just one of those guys who never lived for boxing, but instead lived by boxing used as a means for his greater end whatever that has been for him.
