selij
Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch The WBC has sanctioned a "direct rematch" between heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. Britain's Fury and American Wilder shared a controversial and thrilling draw in Los Angeles on Saturday. Both fighters have said they want a rematch, while Fury is pushing for it to be in the UK. The WBC said in a statement there was a "unanimous agreement" to sanction a rematch in a meeting of the board of governors. "Wilder and Fury gave boxing one of the best fights in the heavyweight division in a long time, which has created tremendous popular demand for the fans to see a rematch," it said. "The WBC is happy to confirm a direct rematch has been approved." Wilder's mandatory challenger is Dominic Breazeale but this decision by the WBC clears the way for him to fight Fury again next without being stripped of his belt. LondonRingRules
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. --- I'd pick Breazeale to whup the WBC poor dear at this point. Lotsa motivation that branded his soul after Deyonce and his dozen thugs mullered Breazeale, his wife, and his young toddler son in a Birmingham hotel. sould664
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. Sucks for Breazeale! Much rather see the rematch though, wonder who has to pay step aside money if at all?
WelshDevilRob
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. It doesn't seem like it's been "ordered" but if Wilder and Fury want to go again they have the WBC's backing. Sucks for Brezeale and Dillian Whyte. Whyte has been inline longer than Breazeale but the WBC leapfrogged Breazeale over him.
Undefeated
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. That's unacceptable there's other fighter's in line, Wilder's made his voluntary now it's time to fight his mandatory unless DB is willing to let the rematch with Fury happen next it shouldn't be allowed to. This is BS.
Cableaddict
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. Fury already beat Wilder, he doesn't need a rematch. Despite what his people are saying, it would make much more sense to go after an AJ fight. Probably ten times the money, and less chance of getting KTFO. Plus, if he did win, he'd be holding all the cards when negotiating for the next Wilder fight.

AJ would have to be insane to put his 4 belts on the line in a stadium fight with Fury, waaaay too risky.

Gerald
Re: Wilder v Fury II: WBC sanctions 'direct' rematch. This helps Wilder in negotiations for the Joshua fight. Given that it's sanctioned but not 'ordered' he can keep his options open and negotiate the unification with Joshua (for which he would no doubt get an exception from the mandatory) with the leverage of the Fury rematch as an alternative. I think Hearn and Joshua will probably view Wilder as more beatable than Fury now, so, if you believe Hearn that the priority is the WBC belt, then I expect them to make concessions to ensure they get the chance to relieve Wilder of his title, rather than having to go through Fury to get it. I can see a scenario where they agree a summer showdown in the UK after Joshua faces the Whyte-Chisora winner and Wilder faces Breazeale.
