A place to share some of the interviews I am doing with fighters. I've probably sent more away than I have got back. But, the ones I do get back I will share below.

Anthony Upton reflects on his 3 years as a professional boxer

Ringnews24.com: You are currently 13-1 what are your thoughts on how your career is progressing so far?

Obviously, I’d like to be 14-0 rather than 13-1 but not everything goes according to plan, there’s ups and downs along the way. Other than that, I’m happy with how its going, I’ve been a pro for three years today, I remember that because it’s my dad’s birthday. I’m the English champ so I couldn’t ask for it to be going any better.

Nathan Weise gives an insight into his career and future plans

Ringnews24.com: You are currently (11-5-2) what are your thoughts on how your career is progressing so far?

My career so far has not gone as planned. I’d like to be 18-0 right now. When I first turned pro, I did all three results in my first three fights – win, loss, and draw. It didn’t start how I wanted it to but I guess that’s life and things happen for a reason. If I didn’t believe in myself or believe that I can be a champion then I would have retired but I’m still here now.

Re: My Interviews

It's very interesting hearing from a young fighter that has already had a few setbacks in their career. As glamorous as it is to be undefeated, bouncing back from a defeat or several is quite remarkable. Just take someone like Orlando Salido. If i'm not mistaken he got stopped in his first pro fight and had the same amount of wins as losses after 10 career fights.

I really appreciated it when boxers get back to me and more so when they put effort and thought into there answers. I enjoyed hearing what Nathan had to say, he went into very good detail.

Tim Rickson his PR set up and gathered the answers for Ringnews24. We should have a few more interviews back soon. So a thank-you to Tim, if your reading.

Tyron Zeuge interview ahead of Giovanni De Carolis rematch this Saturday

Ringnews24.com: Who is your current trainer and where do you train?

Conny Mittermeier / Jürgen Braehmer, I am training at the Olympic Centre in Schwerin.

Ringnews24.com: Who did you look up to growing up as a boxer – who was your idol?

I started light training at the age of 3 and began real boxing training at 6. I first did it to please my late father, but later did it just for myself. I never had an idol boxing wise.

A few that I've done since moving the site from Joomla to Wordpress. I will need to look out the old Joomla interviews, I've actually done more than I thought.

Tommy Langford: Current and Future Fights

Ringnews24.com: Last time we spoke you said you wanted to push up the rankings to put yourself in the position to be mixing it with the best fighters in the division. The WBO have you ranked fourth; have you set any new goals?

It’s still my goal to keep pushing down that road really – I mean obviously being ranked fourth by the WBO puts you not too far off that world title shot, and given that Billy Joe [saunders]’s with Frank Warren as well, it’s an easier fight to make. That being said, obviously it would be nice to make it a bigger fight – push on and win a few more contests and that will get me even higher up and potentially a mandatory position. That’s ultimately what I am going for and then you know it’s unavoidable – the fight’s going to happen. It would also be nice in the next few fights to pick up a title – like this next fight I have a Commonwealth title shot, which is great and we can go on from there and move on to the British or European – that’s also something I’d like to do.

The clash brings two unbeaten fighters together; they will be fighting for the vacant Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship.

Tommy Langford looking to defeat the experienced Ronny Mittag

Ringnews24.com: You are currently 12-0 – what are your thoughts on how your career is progressing so far?

It is progressing just how I want it really. I just finished my first year with Frank Warren; we’re moving onto intercontinentals now in my second year. That’s going to get me to top 10 in the WBO – providing I get the win. I’m on the right track to be mixing with the best fighters in the division and that’s where I want to be – so I am happy where it’s going.

Exclusive interview with Scott Harrison as he prepares for his return to boxing

Ringnews24.com: Do you feel let down by the Scottish Sheriff Court after they announced you would be extradited to Spain to serve a four-year prison sentence for assault charges dating from May 2007?

There are a lot of ins and outs of the case. I can’t talk too much about the actual case because I have still to go up in front of the High Court – whenever it may be – come my appeal. There are a lot of points of law that the Sheriff should have… the case should have been thrown out. For some reason he never gave an explanation why, so I will be appearing at the High Court this year.

Anthony Yigit hopes to fight Lenny Daws for the European title

Ringnews24.com: How did you get into boxing and what age did you start going to the gym?

My dad took me to a local boxing gym in Sweden when I was 12 and I was hooked. Moved to study in Turkey and when I moved back to Sweden at 15 I picked it up again and been doing it since.

[h=1]Ashley Theophane wants to rematch Broner or fight Burns but it must be for the world title[/h]

Ringnews24.com: Your last fight was against Adrien Broner – how do you feel the fight went, and looking back is there anything you would do differently?

The eight rounds went as my team and I thought. We wanted to still be in the fight going into the championship rounds as Adrien tends to fade during that time. One of the judges only had me two rounds behind. The referee made a mistake when I complained about the low blow. The crowd booed the stoppage as they clearly saw the low blow but the referee somehow missed it. That’s boxing for you. You just have to move on – can’t

dwell on it.

Tommy Langford is looking for bigger opportunities after his arm is raised against Sam Sheedy

Ringnews24.com: Your British title fight against Chris Eubank Jr fell through due to an injury to Eubank. How disappointed were you?

It’s been well-reported that I was devastated, but I’m looking on the plus side in that I’m fighting for the British title still, and the Eubanks don’t mean anything to me anymore.

Re: My Interviews

--- Went a few rds with Scully in the aol days.

He was a good natured guy to debate. Anyway, he told me he could make me quit a sparring session with him, so we had a standing agreement if the opportunity arose. He came to a south Texas Indian casino with his fringe contender Clay-Bey to fight Otis Tisdale, so I called the hotel the evening before the fight to offer my free services as the spit bucket boy, but they had gone out for dinner and casino relaxation, so we just missed out our anticipated post fight engagement. Woulda been fun.

Re: My Interviews

Probably my favourite interview that I have done. John Scully offers a great insight and a must read for any fan or young boxer.

The Wait Before The Fight

Page not found - - Boxing News - Ring News24

Just trying to find my old interviews and I came across this one.

That's a good read!

I can honestly say, though, that this never happened to me in the ams. Of course, there was never the pressure of huge crowds, either. (I fought at a pretty low level.)

I was always convinced that I couldn't lose. My trainer had us always do mental exercises: relaxing, then going through the fight (successfully) in slow motion in our heads, over & over. This really helped. I also fought at near my "walking around" weight, so weight loss was never a big concern.

I DO remember always worrying about my diet, though, like "Should I have had that banana this morning?" - but not enough to cause me problems before the fight.

Of course, in my 21st fight I got KTFO, and soon after took up cycling, so.... ;-)

I dunno how I would have felt if I had continued boxing, before that next bout. Getting clocked by a good puncher fricking HURTS.

MGM Scotland’s Gary Cornish starts a new chapter in his career with big plans and changes

Gary Cornish (23-1, 12 KOs) has quit his day job to focus full-time on boxing, teaming up with MGM Scotland and Billy Nelson while leaving his Inverness boxing gym and former trainer behind.

“The Highlander” last fought on the 24th of June 2016 against Tomas Mrazek; referee Kevin McIntyre scored the fight 60-54 to Cornish.

CABLE YOUR EDITING MY POSTS AGAIN INSTEAD OF HITTING REPLY LOL

CABLE-

Cornish looked positively clueless against AJ.

- But when you read this, you realize how everything was stacked against him, in terms of training. Full time job, bad sparring partners, and literally NO sparring for his last two fights!

It reminds you just how hard it can be for guys on the way up, if they don't have top management and huge money behind them. (And how "easy" it can be for pampered pretty boys like AJ.) Thik about the early pro careers fo guys like Kovalev or Maravilla. - And they were the LUCKY ones.

I don't expect much from Cornish in the future, but now I'm VERY interested to see what he might accomplish.

Rooting for the guy.

Iain Butcher is hoping for a British title shot in 2017 but isn’t hanging around waiting

MGM Scotland’s Iain Butcher fights February 18 at the Lagoon Centre, Paisley – an opponent has still to be announced. Butcher had three good wins in 2016 with victories against Sergey Tasimov, Thomas Essomba and Joseafat Reyes.

The Jerviston boxer last fought on the 3rd of December 2016 against Joseafat Reyes; referee Kevin McIntyre scored the fight 59-56 to Butcher.

I didn't realise things were so bad in Inverness. I thought with the money he would of made from Joshua that he would of been able to have got decent sparring in etc...

You don't know Scotland, here's an insight: Inverness is near the top of Scotland. The big cities are around the middle ie. Glasgow, Edinburgh etc. Inverness has a population of around 50-60K. Which is fairly small and the fact it is 3-4 hours drive + from the major citys, I'm not surprised he struggled for sparring, and at 6'6-6'7 makes it even harder.

On hoping Nelson can give him some confidence and tighten him up as a boxer. On another forum they questioned his power. When you look at him, hes a big lad and has muscle and broad shoulders. Maybe his power will come under Nelson.

Re: My Interviews

Do we know how much he made for fighting AJ? I'd be surprised if it was more than 100K, and after taxes that's not enough to support a decent team & facility for 6 months, let alone a year.

(Knowing Hearn's track record, I'd be surprised if it was more than 50K.)

I don't know but if he agrees which I think he will you could always ask him - http://www.koboxingforum.com/showthread.php?t=109487&p=278852#post278852

Yeah, but that would be kinda' tacky.

I'm a classy guy ! ;-)

However -

I might ask him about how Hearn treated him overall, and if it felt like they were manipulating things in any way to give AJ an advantage. (Ring size, time to prepare, accommodations, dressing room, etc etc etc.) Of course, we know that they DID pull every trick possible, but details would be very interesting.

Buglioni chats about winning the title and possible rematch against Burton

Newly crowned light-heavyweight British Champion Frank Buglioni was a keen footballer as a kid and only took up boxing for fitness and strength, he told Ringnews24.com:

“I started boxing when I was about 12-years-old. It was a friend of my dad’s or his business partner, in fact I guy called Lee.

“His son started boxing for a bit of fitness and strength and I always kind of liked training. I liked keeping fit I was playing football at the time and we said it would be great for his confidence and kind of realised it through his football.

“Within a couple of weeks trying boxing I said this is the sport for me I want to focus everything on this and pack everything else up.”

Buglioni loved boxing early on and he didn’t have any expectations, he explained:
