Is Galahad (20-0) ready for Rigondeaux?

Undefeated super-bantamweight ace Kid Galahad has targeted a showdown with pound-for-pound star Guillermo Rigondeaux and believes he can be the first man to defeat him.

Galahad continues on his comeback when he features on British boxing’s biggest night of the year on Saturday 29th October at the Manchester Arena on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s grudge rematch against Wladimir Klitschko.

The 26-year-old, a former British, Commonwealth, European, WBC International and IBF Youth Champion, has racked up two wins this year and featured last at the O2 Arena when he blasted out Emiliano Salvini in four rounds on the Gennady Golovkin v Kell Brook undercard.

However, the Sheffield hot-shot has now set his sights on the WBA Super World Champion Rigondeaux who last fought in Cardiff in July when he smashed the brave former Galahad foe Jazza Dickens in two rounds to defend his crown.

Classy southpaw Rigondeaux is arguably the most avoided man in boxing with rival world champions’ reluctant to face the masterful boxer whose fast hands, expert footwork and precision knockout counter-punching have taken him to an unbeaten 17-fight record and two world titles.

I've never even seen the kid fight. Now that Fat Andy pulled out of the Hughie fight, this makes the Fury card a little more interesting again.

This fight, however, is not listed yet on Boxrec. That means the kid is probably facing some last-minute TBA, so it likely won't be any kind of challenge. Just a showcase for the casuals. But heck, if that helps to get him in the ring with Rigo, then I'm all for it.

An old trick. Float the idea then make sure it never comes to fruition, continue piggybacking Rigo's name to build their guy.

Yeah, you're probably right.

His next opponent will probably be that "Saco" guy.

Got to give this kid credit for wanting to fight Rigondeaux many a fighter wouldn't want to step into the ring with him.

Are UK fighters on some sort of brave juice recently? Credit to them for wanting to test themselves unlike many fellow fighters across the sport.

Still don't understand why anyone wants to fight Rigo. He's gonna beat you, you're gonna look bad, it's gonna be boring as hell..

Because even in this day and age people occasionally like to test themselves against the very best. And upsets do happen.

Yeah well it's like most tests - nobody really likes them, you just have to sit through them and hope not to be embarrassed when the results arrive.

and that actually describes a Rigo fight perfectly

A travesty that no fight in the pipeline for Guillermo Rigondeaux. I enjoy his fights, it's like watching a master craftsman. Can see him returning to the UK just to get a fight and a payday with Frank Warren. They loved him in Wales.

Thought he was meant to be fighting mexican Moises Flores (25-0, 17 KOs)

I read somewhere that he was supposed to fight Shumenov in the near future, but then he's so lazy it might be he doesn't want to fight again for a while.

Rigondeaux isn't with his Irish manager anymore. He is with Caribe Promotions - Not sure what they will do for his career but a Hearn or Warren should of snapped him up in UK. They could of turned him into a superstar. Many would pay to see him fight on UK shows.
