MANILA, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao is willing to take the blood test to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The 31-year-old Filipino, who just became the first boxer in history ever to be elected to Congress, said he’s willing to take the blood test as long as they’re not done close to the fight.

“Huwag lang sa day ng fight (Never on fight day),” the reigning WBO welterweight champion said Tuesday evening during a visit to President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Pacquiao was quoted by Philip Ella Juico, who had the chance to promote a couple of Pacquiao fights in the Philippines years back, as saying that the fight with Mayweather might soon happen.

“Malamang tuloy na (It might push through now),” Pacquiao had said to that effect.

In a separate report, Pacquiao said he had agreed to take the test 14 days before the fight but depending on the amount.

The Congressman from Sarangani said he doesn’t need any tuneup match heading to the superfight with Mayweather, who himself may need no other fight before taking on the reigning pound-for-pound champion.

Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, has penciled Nov. 13 for Pacquiao’s next fight, and it could be against Mayweather or anyone else.

Arum was in General Santos City during the May 10 elections, and flew back home saying he’s ready to reopen negotiations with the Mayweather camp regarding the fight that almost took place last March.

But it went down the drain when Mayweather started demanding for a random blood-testing, Olympic style. Pacquiao was not amenable to it because he felt drawing blood close to the fight weakens him.

Under Mayweather’s demand, blood testing could be done months, weeks, days or even hours before the fight. But the Filipino icon said he wouldn’t let anyone taken from him 24 days before the fight.

Mayweather lowered his demand to 14 days before the fight. And now he might get what he wants.

Pacquiao’s business manager, Michael Koncz, however, said he fears that once Pacquiao agrees to the random blood tests, the undefeated American might come up with new demands, just to keep the fight from happening.

again...hair and or saliva testing could work...but they haven't been mentioned....

Wow, I didn't know that. I knew that the Urine test is about worthless for uncovering PED's, but thought Blood was the only other reliable option. Interesting.

I'm tired of this bozo Kentucky Floyd chicken why didn't he do us a favor and just Pay his taxes. He comes back for a quick pay cheque fighting old men.

Pacman agreed to his initial demands and gave him 14 days and now his being a Lil bitch and probably demanding 60% now. The whole boxing community wants to see this fight...not thAt he gives a shit.

His a boring boxer and couldn't knock out a fighter if we gave him a sledge hammer. I don't give a shit what anyone says his biggest pay day is only with pAcman. No way his going to make any more money fighting anyone else, his fight with Mosley was supposed to do 3 or 4 million and I bet that's what kfc expected...1.4 million is decent but well below everyones expectations.

Either kfc fightS pacman on his original terms or he can go back into retirement where he belongs...likely he will go back and find someone to fight in a retirement village.

i had a moan recently saying i dont see a problem with this testing, but i have had a change of mind as i had a blood test and my arm was left with a big bruise and i couldnt throw a punch for a week on my punchbag so if that happened it would affect there training

-------- Damn straight. Good so see some noggins clearing after all the accusations.

Blood tests are being overused by the WADA nazis who won't tell anyone these newer blood tests are really experimental. If push came to shove, they could easily lose a court case if someone decided they knew they were clean.

It's harder to give urine when a fighter is dehydrating to make weight.

Boxing has been relatively clean of PEDs compared to other sports because it's still considered a primitive sport of cave men and usually not worth state of the art pharma training.

Boxing needs to formulate it's own testing, not adopt the WADA nazis who have done nothing to enhance the reputation of athletics and cycling in spite of tens of thousands of tests.

How odd, given he knocked out Ricky Hatton. Mind you, Hattoon's easy to JKO, even Pacquiao managed it.

Yes it took him 10 rounds to do it and 2 attempts. Plus it was stopped by the ref. Pacman fought him at his natural weight of 140, KFC fought hatton at 147 which is typical KFC BS about getting fighters to move up in weight outside of their optimal weight class.

Pacman KO'd Hatton cold in 2 rounds and Hatton looked like he was on the brink of some serious head trauma.

KFC couldnt even knock out a much much smaller Marquez.

However my point isn't that his never knocked anyone out but he just struggles to do it. His boring as bat shit to watch just ask your man Hatton.

So your point is that he that he couldn't knock someone out with a sledgehammer, except he has knocked people out but your point now is he struggled? Mayweather's only struggled in any sense 2 or 3 times in his entire career, so I can't agree there. Mayweather gets on my nerves at times because he has the power to trouble his opponents but he so rarely does more than he has to. Against Mosley that was a different story.

Pacquiao probably hits harder than Mayweather, but Mayweather is more accurate, so I guess we'll have to wait and see who comes out on top.

So if Pacciow has a blood test he might have a bruised arm, ah poor little didums. However if Mayweather has THE SAME BLOOD TEST THAT HE IS MORE THAN WILLING TO TAKE he might not. Rightie oh then. ?// ?//

pacquiao has bad history with them

So again...i'm sick of asking...why not spend extra money on hair and saliva tests?

So why ask PacMan to do one thing and then against Shane Mosley not do it?

The United States Anti-Doping Agency confirmed Friday that the final blood sample taken from Shane Mosley was April 12 and the final one taken from Floyd Mayweather was April 13 as part of their agreement to undergo random, Olympic-style testing prior to their May 1 welterweight boxing match in Las Vegas.

Mayweather won the fight by a wide unanimous decision. Each man was tested seven times prior to the fight and then again on the night of the fight by USADA, which will retain their samples for future testing. Each of the eight tests included required the fighters to provide urine samples; they were required to give blood four times.

I dont see what you are getting at Rob.
